I am too full of ideas lately. First a class, then a monster template or three, and now, another template. It seemed more fit to put in here than in the monster section.

Arumeth
“Arumeth” is a template that can be applied to any humanoid. An Arumeth has been in contact with great otherworldly forces that have granted her strange and wicked visions and she has not been driven mad by that. Instead, she has gained great strength from the otherworldly forces as well as some magical abilities.

Size and Type: Size and type are unchanged.

Speed: Increase base speed by 10 feet.

Abilities: Increase from the base creature as follows: Str +6, Dex +4, Con +4, Int +4, Wis +4, Cha +4.

Spell-like Abilities: The base creature gains the following spell-like abilities:

1/day - Blindness/Deafness, Blur, Charm Person, Control Flames*, Create Water, Cure Light Wounds, Dancing Lights, Darkness, Daylight, Daze, Disguise Self, Enlarge Person, Faerie Fire, Ghost Sound, Inflict Light Wounds, Invisibility, Levitate, Light, Lullaby, Pass Without Trace, Prestidigitation, Resistance, Shatter, Touch of Fatigue, True Strike.

An Arumeth who has advanced in HD also gains the following:

HD Spell-like Ability
5 Shadow Walk
10 Ethereal Jaunt
15 Astral Projection

*Causes a nonmagical fire within 10 feet to diminish to the level of coals or flare to the brightness of daylight and double the normal radius of its illumination. This ability does not change the heat output or fuel consumption of the fire source. This ability lasts for a maximum of 1 minute/level.

Arms of Kali: If the base creature has a BAB of +6 or more, it grows an extra pair of arms that it can withdraw into its body. If the base creature has a BAB of +11 or more, it grows another extra pair of arms that it can withdraw into its body.

Senses of Sky and Earth (Su): An Arumeth can use this ability, to gain Blindsight and Tremorsense, both with a range of 120 feet, for a number of rounds/day equal to its HD. It can spread its use in rounds over multiple uses on a single day.

Light Blindness: Abrupt exposure to bright light (such as sunlight or a daylight spell) blinds an Arumeth for 1 round. On subsequent rounds, they are dazzled as long as they remain in the affected area.

Skills: An Arumeth has a +2 racial bonus on all Knowledge checks. Arumeths have seen wicked visions and thus gained otherworldly insight.

Challenge Rating: Same as the base creature +2.

Level Adjustment: Same as the base creature +7.

Your spell abilities give no uses per day.

Aack! I indeed forgot a few things, amongst them the number of uses per day for the spell-like abilities. Also, I now added a special ability and a weakness.

I must say I'm unsure about the LA. I just made it arbitrarily high because of the ability mods and spell-like abilities.

O_O WOW! The first idea that makes sense and doesn't have anything to do with the stereotypes of my ninjitsu studies! THANK YOU FOR MAKING SENSE!!! :Di might just have to put this to use... :P

Wow, thanks a lot! :D I don't really get why it makes sense with regards to ninjitsu in any way, though. Could you explain that?

No.... it makes sense as a race, AND it has NOTHING to do with the popular stereotypes of ninjas. I might jsut have to put this idea into play in my campaign :D

Okay, thanks for your comment. Take note that it isn't a race though, it's a template. So you could play as an Arumeth Human and gain the bonuses of both.

Cool stuff. I would bump up the Senses of Sky/Earth to at least 1 rd/character level, though.

I could see some folks really digging the extra arms. They kind of seem tacked on, as they don't seem to fit the flavor. What inspired this (or is it just the image of indian deities?)

Also, one more critique. Too many spell like abilities. I would pare it down to just a few quality ones, unless you're specifically wanting this to emulate an easier npc/monster spellcaster type.

Thanks. I'll take this suggestion to heart.

They kind of are tacked on, yeah, but to me it somehow seemed to fit. And the image of indian deities indeed played a party in it.

Personally, I think that a lot low-level spell-like abilities might be better than a few high-level ones. Compare Prestidigitation 3/day to Meteor Swarm 1/day. It is mostly made so for easier spellcasting types that focus a bit on melee as well, and if it would be taken by a PC that fighting types would benefit more from it than casting types. Hence why I made the number of arms BAB-based.
