I have a Tiefling PC in love with an Asimar NPC. And when I say Love, I mean it... he doesnt want to get in her pants, he wants her as the light of his life, the hope after the disaster, the smile after the pain.... well you get my point. The asimar didnt like him at the start, but he's making progress.

Im thinking ahead and the possibility they may be eventually together... but the result of that union seems... well.... I dont know!

Assimar with elven mother
Tiefling with human mother

The kid would be...what? Half-efl? w/White wings and horns? o_ô

So good + evil = chaos?

The correct answer is, whatever you and your DM can both agree upon.

Aasimar and Tiefling are human sub-classes and even a child of two Aasimar do not always beget an Aasimar child. The power of the blood do not always shine through and Aasimar often have human siblings. Divine blood and other races are most often considered Devas.

As for your particular case:
Elf+Aasimar=Aasimar that otherwise would be half-elf.

A Quarter-elf is not counted as having enough elf blood in it to be considered Elf in any way.

Children would most probably be humans, but would have access to Heritage feats from both Divine and Evil parts, and possibly Elf heritage-like feats as well... or whatever your DM would think be most fun. Would not twins where one of the twin is an Aasimar and the other a Tiefling be quite a wonderful plot object? Identical in all things, but "race"? Let the racistical themed drama begin!

Roll d100

1-30: Aasimar
31-60: Tiefling
61-75: Human
76-90: Elf
91-99: Half-Elf
100: The world ends.
______

Seriously, though, talk to the DM. Any of the above posts are possibilities, Aasimar, Tiefling, Human, Elf, or Half-Elf. If any of the latter three, with some sort of bonus. Or even create a new kind of planetouched.

Aasimar:
25% Celestial
75% Elf

Tieffling:
25% Fiend
75% Human

The Child:
13% Celestial
37% Elf
13% Fiend
37% Human

He is still a planetouched, but i can't tell which kind. Try mixing both race stats. He will probably look like a mix of his parent. Maybe something like golden eyes and white hair...and tiny horns. Who know? He his Planetouched, but neither Tieflinh nor Aasimar...

In a way, the child is truly an unique creature...

Aasimar and Tiefling have no set percentage of fiendish/celestial heritage as some people would lead you to believe. It is just a weird mutation in humans that have an outsider ancestor that will randomly pop up, no matter how faint the lineage.

Thus, Aasimar and Tiefling breed as humans for all intents and purposes. So, the result of an Aasimar+Elf=Half-elf (Maybe if you really insist, give them a celestial bloodline)

Tiefling+Human=normal Human (Once again, bloodline if you really feel it necessary)

I'd rule that the pairing would beget a child of pure Chaos. A child so twisted by the war of good and evil within his soul, his very mind is constantly being torn apart and reformed as he attempts to deal with the eternal struggle that wages in his psyche.

I call this child...the Assling.

Human.

Tiefling. Evil Plane Touched.
Aasimar. Good Plane Touched.

Good and Evil cancel each other out. 2 Plane Touched would dilute down, making the child neither good nor evil, and of no noteworthy Plane Touched-ness.

Human.

I like the twins idea, where one's a tiefling, and the other's an aasimar.

Kinda like an idea I had for an adventuring party of brothers, none the same race. One human, one changeling, one half-orc, one half-ogre, and one half-elf. All brothers.

Wow, those are great ideas... btw, IM the DM. I was just a lil lost about the issue and wanted some ideas. I like the twins option, the new race option and the swap abilities option.

The Assimar : She has golden hair, blue eyes and wings. (LG paladin)
The Tiefling : He has red hair, ram horns and a tail. (LN, rogue/fighter/assassin/vigilante "The Demon".... yeah, like in Halo... long story)

The result I would like if I fuse their looks would be: Red hair, golden eyes, wings and tail.

They are both lawfull... Given the path the tiefling is taking, it would take him few steps to get Good. She has become now his inspiration. He even wants to build her a statue. So sweet.

Well, there are two different ways I can see this going...

1) The fact that one of the parents is an elf does not matter because the otherworldly super-magical-genetics trump everything; no half-elf is produced. If you go this way, I could see the offspring being:

25% chance of being an aasimar
25% chance of being a tiefling
25% chance of being an aasimar with the fiendish template
25% chance of being a tiefling with the celestial template

2) One of the parents being an elf does matter; in this case the character is a half-elf. The offspring ends up being one of the following:

20% chance of being a normal half-elf
20% chance of being a half-elf with the fiendish template
20% chance of being a half-elf with the celestial template
20% chance of being a half-elf with both templates
20% chance of being one of the creature types from #1

I know that what I listed isn't a perfect way of doing it, and I didn't base it on genetics or science or anything; this just seems like a quick and easy way to do it.

Either pick which option you want or roll dice and let fate decide.
Kamin_Majere

07-15-07, 06:05 PM
Well you could do a complete break down of their genetic code and make a Genetics Graph to see what would happen. It shouldnt take you more than about 40 years to factor in all the variables... and by that time the campaign will be over and you dont have to worry about it anymore :D :( :weep:

Of course with that take on it you'd have to figure out all the neuances of their pairing and what (out of the billions of combinations) part of the genetic code was actually passed on at the point the baby was made, and then factor in which of the billions of genetic traits became Dominate and recessive... also factoring in genetic abnormalities as well as the reaction of the two blood lines had on each others, which might lead to unforseen mutation of the base line genetic codes being classified.

um... jsut have the world end with the baby

So the child's geneology would be;

Great Grandparents;
Maternal: Archon, Human / Male Elf, Female Elf
Paternal: Devil, Human / Human, Human

Grandparents;
Maternal: Half-Celestial, Lady Elf
Paternal: Half-Fiend, Human

Parents: Aasimar mother, Tiefling father

---

and the child would be?

1/8 celestial
1/4 elf
1/8 fiend
&
1/2 human

Don't know if anybody (member Soulnova) is still interested but:

You could treat the child as a;

Lesser Aasimar, Lesser Tiefling and/or Lesser Elf (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=887106)

you could give the child the Celestial, Devil and/or Elf Bloodline traits. (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/bloodlines.htm)

When the child grows up and starts taking levels it could start taking Aasimar, Tiefling and/or Elf Racial Class levels (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040213a). It would represent what aspect of its ancestry it focused on. Then it could take the Aasimar/Half-Celestial, Tiefling/Half-Fiend, and/or Half-Elf/Elf Transition class. (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/sp/20040319a)

This thread came back to life... wow. I always wanted such a character too. I'm taking a few points out of other's replies.

We're assuming that you'd want to go for the more dramatic happening, because if you try to be objective, the child would be a human (just like the offspring of half elves and humans, besides, good and evil would counter themselves to nothing). Maybe only a few elven traits that do not affect the stats, like odd physical appearance could be had. BUT-- if you'd want to come up with a new template, and a stranger outcome, I'd think something like:

Twilit

These are the offspring of tiefling and aasimar, not as rare as many would think, due to the hatred between both races. Seldom born out of love (many tieflings, male or female, would force or charm themselves on unwary aasimars and the resulting offspring acts as a living revenge on the other's lineage), these children are usually called "twilit", never fully bright nor dark, but both at the same time. If there is only one physical trait that would reveal the twilit as one, is that their eyes seem to have different colorations when in bright, medium, low and no light. Some are born with hints of their outsider lineage: halos, horns, oddly-colored blood or unearthly voices... many characteristics aren't unheard of.

STATS

+2 Hide, Diplomacy
Twilit's nature makes them a living oxymoron, they can work well in the shadows or in the open.
-1 on Will saves
Their ever-struggling inner nature fills a twilit's mind, their confusion doesn't help to overcome mental insinuations

Light and Darkness: A twilit can control light surrounding him/her (30 ft. radius), increasing or decreasing it by two categories. This ability can be used 1 time per character level.
Darkvision out to 60 ft
Forbidden existence: Regardless of their alignment, twilits don't suffer any ill effects by wielding weapons that bestow penalties to creatures of opposing morality (for example, an evil twilit could use a sword made for good characters without penalty). Twilit clerics can cast one spell per day that they shouldn't be able to use, within their available levels (for example, a good twilit cleric could cast one inflict spell per day).

Twilits have one statistic bonus, of the following:
+2 CHA
+2 INT
+2 DEX
+2 WIS

They also have one of the following resistances:
5 fire
5 acid
5 cold
5 electricity

1 extra feat at first level: The human blood in a twilit is strong enough to bond opposing natures, twilits are just as adaptable as humans.

LA: 1 (?)

So, there. Open to comments.

It wouldn't take THAT long. But you would need knowledge of at least grade 10 science, and telling by the fact that your campaigns have such mature themes as love, im guessing you probably are past grade 10.

triplets.
one who is an asimar, one a teifling and the other a split. each taking a class that is not like the race. give stats that would be a mix of the two races for the split. and for the two that have a race already make them of the opposite gender of the father and mother so a male asimar and a female teifling.

just make it weird for it is a truly odd happening.

INeedNoSalt

11-25-07, 08:24 PM
You should do the obvious thing and kick both of their loving asses:

They should be incompatable and unable to have children due to the drastic difference in their heritage (basically, they're completely unrelated species.) Alternatively, just plain human or just plain aasimar or just plain tiefling. Give it traits that neither parent has!
8headeddragon

11-25-07, 08:51 PM
Here's 2cp from a DM with a more rigid perception of this sort of thing...

In my settings fiends and celestials aren't compatible under the reasoning that they're made of polar opposites as far as their native planes are concerned-- they aren't compatible in the same way a fire elemental and a water elemental couldn't be crossbred (if elementals mated like other creatures do...).

The same idea would apply if a couple planetouched with genie heritage of opposite elements had children. Maybe the child would be human, maybe they'd be an air genasi, maybe they'd be an earth genasi, but both traits wouldn't show up in the same offspring. For that, I'd rule that the child would be half-elf, with a slim possibility of being a tiefling or aasimar. Perhaps 60-80% odds of a half-elf depending on how far back the outsider heritage goes, and the remainder being split evenly for having a planetouched child.

Trying to put my negative bias against the Concordant Killer aside, as well as my exasperation with the plot element of super powered pedigree kids, I believe that the MM4 entry described those creatures as a creation of deific or highly magical meddling. Distant outsider ancestry wouldn't be enough to produce the multi-planar war machine of that scale.
RandomAction

11-26-07, 01:02 AM
Have you thought of the child as being 'normally' human in appearance, but with small horns and fangs, from one parent, silver hair and golden eyes, from the other. However the child would be so emotionaly detatched (True Neutral alignment), that in times of extreme emotional stress that either side of his heritage would show.
i.e., Dark moods bring out his teifling heritage, granting him teifling racial abilities. While Good moods would bring out his assimar side, and thier abilities.

On character creation, select either a +2 on Wis or Cha and a +2 on either Dex or Int. A -2 on Con, because of the constant strain of his/her heritages.
Would not gain any special abilities on darkness or light. 60' darkvision. a +2 on Bluff and Listen skills. Resistance 5/- to cold and electricity. Auto languages of Common, Celestial and Infernal. A favored class of any.

Just a thought.

Hmmm... I think that the twilit is a good idea but i would just add half celestial half fiendish templates but when he becomes distresed or joyous he rips a hole in the space-time continuum meaning he is knocked to stabilised -1 hit points and everyone around him takes 1d4+1 damage.
I also like the split down the middle one.

That maybe cool but "instant death traps are the work of an amauteur dm. a true dm prolongs the torture as long as possible" (quote from dark bakura, yu-gi-oh! manga comics) also howabout, the teifling because he is falling in love with an asimar he becomes more like her and his alignment is slowly changing to good so that the child is just an assimar.

90% of yall dont seem to understand what a tiefling and assamir are, ill try to explain.

that random redhead neice born in 2007 after generations of brown and black heads because of genetic fluke in the family line because in 1640 your your very great granddad banged some Scottish chick.

AKA a recessive gene/trait amongst people with very thin demon/angelic blood.

yall are getting confused because NWN2 made neeshka a tiefling because of her 1/4 demoness, NWN2 was wrong, it doesnt work that way directly, she just happend to of gotten the ressive gene early.

the baby would be 99.5% chance just a human, 0.2% chance a tiefling 0.2% chance an aasamir and the other 0.1% genetic miscarrage form conflicting recessive genes.

Well.... Let's try and see what I remember from last year's biology.

If I remember correctly, there are 4 options: Tiefling-aasimar, tiefling-elf, aasimar-human or half-elf. If you want the specifications on how I got there, PM me.

So it should be something like:

d%
1-25: Tiefling-aasimar
26-50: Tiefling-elf
51-75: Aasimar-human
76-100: Half-elf

For the tiefling-aasimar option, apply both templates (so it would be +2 DEX, +2 INT and +2 WIS, along with any ability they posses like the tiefling's darkness with +2 LA). If he gets wings, then just pick the type according to alignment.
Run the calculations for every child they might have (if they decide to have more than one).

In the case of tiefling-elf and aasimar-human, just make a normal tiefling/aasiamar with elven/human features.

I hope that helps
teshen

11-29-07, 02:42 PM
Well, I'm a used to things being a little non-standard... asimar and tiefling are treated as minor templates in the games I've played rather than individual races, similar to how the draconic template is a lesser version of the half dragon template.

I like the twilit suggestion of a previous poster, but just to throw another possible idea out there, you could use a similar mechanic to the killoren out of races of the wild. You could have a something that looks human and can choose to channel minor portions of his/her heritage... like aspect of the hunter/aspect of the ancients/aspect of the destroyer, only in this case you make something like a celestial aspect, and infernal aspect, and possibly a balanced aspect... come to think of it, it kind of makes me think of the synads as well.

I'd rule that the pairing would beget a child of pure Chaos. A child so twisted by the war of good and evil within his soul, his very mind is constantly being torn apart and reformed as he attempts to deal with the eternal struggle that wages in his psyche.

I call this child...the Assling.

Haha, my current D&D character is an aasimar-tiefling and I call him a quasimar… but assling works better!

But yeah, the thing you gotta do with the child is make him literally have episodes of "angel and devil whispering into my ears". Why did I make such character up though? I was bored and conventional PC classes got boring… so I said my character's mother was raped by a tief and she was an aasi…

My friends love the whole idea though, especially as the choices my character makes are not my own conscious decisions, but rather I mimick Two-Face from DC/Batman and let a coin toss determine the character's actions.

If I was dming, I would, at best (ignoring that Celestials and Fiends couldn't mix), rule that the resulting child was a half-elf and all ties to either heritage was completely wiped out, at worst no child could be conceived without direct interference from a greater diety (magically fusing the two parts together to create an impossible being).
