astral deva [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-31-07, 09:33 AM I am trying to play an astral deva, but finding information about this race proved to be more difficult than I first imagined. I've been trying to search the net for information but I haven't found anything useful yet. Is there anyone who's got any tips or some useful information to help me play my character right?

08-31-07, 04:15 PM Err the astral deva has 12 HD and +8 level adjustment...so a ECL of 20? Not to attractive to play really, unless you are in an epic campaign. There aren't as many choices for playing angels or archons really because of their high ECL's, not like playing devils and demons because they have more choices.

08-31-07, 08:49 PM There are the "lesser" (when compared to the Astral Deva) Monadic Deva and Movanic Deva in the Fiend Folio. Although neither has a level adjustment given, since the Astral Deva got one in 3.5, it shouldn't be too hard to assign. At a quick glance, I'd set the LA at +8 for the Monadic Deva and +6 for the Movanic Deva, for total ECL of 18 and 12, respectively. This would of course need acid testing to see if the LA is correct.

There's also the Protectar, an angel from the Miniatures Handbook. It has only 2 Outsider hit dice and a +3 Level Adjustment, making it quite playable starting at mid levels.
