| Squirrel_Lord10-09-07, 07:44 PM | Ever since I heard of this spell's existence, I've wanted to play a construct. My character just died, so I've been handed a golden opportunity. There's just one problem: How do I figure out the ECL of an awakened construct? The entries don't have an LA, and the spell is no help. Does anyone have an answer for me? If it helps, my target construct is a Nimblewight from the MM2. Thank you for you time. Squirrel Lord |
| natzero10-09-07, 08:24 PM | well i know for awaken animal the animal is granted 2 extra HD. so the +la for an awakened o lets say dire rat is 3 as far as i know. 1d8 + 2d8 = 3HD i have also been thinking about an awakened animal campaign (interesting story actually) and i have found no information saying that this is not the way such a campaign would be run. animals dont have racial abilities per say (ie. psionics, + to skills, monster levels, dr, sr, etc.) so as far as i know and anyone else ive spoken with the effective ECL of an awakened animal/construct is class level + HD hope that helps |

Not its LA. The Effective character Level of a character is the total of its class levels, Racial Hit dice, and Level Adjustment. Nimblewrights already have an intelligence score, so Awaken construuct is not necessary. Having checked the 3.5 Update doc for MM2, Nimblewrights have an LA of +6. So a basic Nimblewright would be a viable option for joining a level 16 party. (10 construct HD, +6 LA) |
