It is a 3.0 book so there are some random things that would have to be modified, but still. So the question is basicly, has anyone else looked at this book, and do you think the races seem balanced for play. Oh, and the prestige classes in the back. For a random example the Half-Rakasha has a +6 LA, +2 to most stats, alter self 1/day, some random resistances, and it casts spells as a Sorcerer of 1/2 its class levels. |

Mostly the +6 for the half-rakshasa is from unbalanced/overbalanced ability scores, all positive adjustments - no negatives, has an increased speed(Medium sized creatures have base speed of 30ft. normally), spells cast as a Sorcerer of 1/2 HD, and known at same level. Also has the Alternate Form special ability which provides a bonus to its disguise checks +10, potentially making this a +12 skill check right off the hop with the +4 Cha bonus. In addition to this it is immune to poison and resistance 20 to four of five forms of energy types. Even at a low level(Warrior 1 - Sor effective level 1) this makes any Fire, Acid, Cold or Electricity spell completely negated at lower levels. I would put it at more of a +4 or +5 instead of 6. CR is still .25*original CR+Original CR. Reformatted for 3.5 it may have the resistances reduced to 10, and the immunity to poison may get changed to +4 Fort bonus vs. poisons. Which is still pretty high. But that would make it a solid +4 at least. |
