| Conchobaer11-28-07, 09:17 AM | Hello, I am going to be playing in a low-level cityscape campaign soon as a bard, and I cannot find a good low level adjustment race that increases charisma. The lowest official class I can find is the drow which is a +2 ECL and +2 charisma. Can anyone think of another race or perhaps a better race. Signed, Conchobaer |
| Narthon11-28-07, 09:44 AM | Hello, I am going to be playing in a low-level cityscape campaign soon as a bard, and I cannot find a good low level adjustment race that increases charisma. The lowest official class I can find is the drow which is a +2 ECL and +2 charisma. Can anyone think of another race or perhaps a better race. Signed, Conchobaer Spell scale out of races of the dragon gives +2 charisma with no LA. |
| Conchobaer11-28-07, 10:27 AM | Hello, Interesting Narthon *stroking beard*, can you think of any others? Or does anyone else have an answer to my situation? Signed, Conchobaer |
| Essex11-28-07, 11:40 AM | Catfolk (Races of the Wild) have +2 Charisma, +4 Dexterity, +1 natural armor, low-light vision, and a +2 to 2 skills for an LA of +1. Aasimar also increase Charisma with an LA of +1. |
| DreamerInsane11-28-07, 04:13 PM | Lesser Aasimar (Player's Guide to Faerun) have LA +0. Also, Star Elves have a +2 to CHA. Primordial Half-Giant and the White Dragonspawn template are also workable, if somewhat (in the first case) or very (in the latter one) cheesy. |
| Essex11-28-07, 06:56 PM | Monster Manual V has an LA +1 fey race with no racial HD, a +2 to charisma, an immunity to enchantments, and a bonus when casting enchantments. They're also fairly likely to hang around non-fey since they seem to be in some sort of self imposed exile from the faery courts. |
| Conchobaer11-28-07, 07:05 PM | Hello, What race is that? I do not have Monster Manual 5. Signed, Conchobaer |
| Essex11-28-07, 08:39 PM | Hello, What race is that? I do not have Monster Manual 5. Signed, Conchobaer I don't have it either. I saw the race today while thumbing through the book at the store. I think the name starts with a 'J'. I looked at the front of the book, where there was a table of Monsters by ECL. It was one of the ones with an LA of 1. |
| snakeman83011-28-07, 08:51 PM | Increasing the age will boost the charisma on any race. |
| Conchobaer11-28-07, 11:51 PM | Hello, While that may be, the negatives of increasing your age rating are greater than the benefits. You lose more points than you gain at each interval. Signed, Conchobaer |
| The_Shaman11-29-07, 07:36 AM | The draconic template gives +2 to strength, constitution and charisma for a +1 to the LA. Also iirc Fiend Folio has the Feytouched (-2 con +2 cha) at +1 and the half-fey (er, -2 con +2 int +4 cha and maybe +2 to one other stat, as well as a slew of spell-likes and other powers), both being great RP races for a bard. |
| Xiuhcoatl11-29-07, 07:52 AM | While that may be, the negatives of increasing your age rating are greater than the benefits. You lose more points than you gain at each interval. Play a venerable Dragonwrought Kobold, then. They get no aging penalties. Merfolk are also nice: Dex +2, Con +2, Cha +2 ... Speed: 5ft., Swim 50ft. LA +1. |
| Conchobaer11-29-07, 08:58 AM | Hello, Where did you find the dragonwrought kobold? Signed, Conchobaer |
| Essex11-29-07, 12:47 PM | Where did you find the dragonwrought kobold? Races of the Dragon has a feat called Dragonwrought (page 100). It can only be taken by level 1 Kobolds and changes their type from Humanoid (dragonblood) to Dragon. Furthermore, the kobold Aging Effects table (page 39) indicates that dragonwrought kobolds do not take ability penalties for aging. |
| JLaurHughes11-29-07, 01:04 PM | Hello, What race is that? I do not have Monster Manual 5. Signed, Conchobaer I don't have it either. I saw the race today while thumbing through the book at the store. I think the name starts with a 'J'. I looked at the front of the book, where there was a table of Monsters by ECL. It was one of the ones with an LA of 1. It's called a Jaebrin, it's a decent race, I suggest picking up the MMV just for that race, if not for some of the encounters available. |
| Ecalsneerg11-29-07, 01:34 PM | Dromite is LA +1, has +2 Cha, -2 Str and -2 Wis, and have a nifty Small size and +3 natural armour. It's also in both the XPH and the SRD. |
| Conchobaer11-29-07, 01:58 PM | Hello, The Dragonwroght feat says nothing about not taking age penalties. Signed, Conchobaer |
| EvilVegan11-29-07, 02:06 PM | Hello, The Dragonwroght feat says nothing about not taking age penalties. Signed, ConchobaerBut the rules on kobold age categories do, they're in a different section. It's somewhat of a loophole, but it is completely legal. |
| Essex11-29-07, 02:24 PM | The Dragonwroght feat says nothing about not taking age penalties. That's why I mentioned the table on page 39. One of the footnotes specifically mentions the lack of penalties. |
| teamfireyleader11-29-07, 02:34 PM | May i suggest that you create your own? then you could balance it as you see fit (+2 to perform checks +2 cha + 2 int - 2 str) |
| Conchobaer11-29-07, 03:36 PM | Hello, I missed the reference to page 39, and while I would like to create my own race and that would be simpler, it is not my world and I do not want to dink around with someone else's world. Otherwise, that would be a good idea. Signed, Conchobaer |
| snakeman83011-30-07, 07:51 PM | If you can get your hands on Dieties and Demigods, the Olympian pantheon has what you are probably looking for. Fauns have a bonus to perform, higher save DC's when the use magical instruments, and (i believe) a bonus to Charisma, but I'm really not sure on point #3. Favored class: Bard LA:+0 (I think, there isn't actually one listed because its a 3.0 book. I wouldn't give them an LA.) |
| YamiShinobi12-01-07, 01:40 AM | Hello, What race is that? I do not have Monster Manual 5. Signed, Conchobaer Jaebrins +2 charisma -2 strength favored class beguiler, they also have a +1 luck bonus to ac as well as a will sapping bite |
