They are stronger, faster, tougher and hairier than ordanary creatures, but possess intellegence that of a normal dog. Beastborn creatures have been known to form "packs". These packs often have Beastborn creatures of different races, even races that would normaly be sworn enemies, such as Orcs and Elves. This is a inherited Template that can be added to any Humanoid or Monstrous Humanoid. Size and Type: Size remains unchanged and the base creatures type changes to Animal. Armor Class: If the base creature had Natural Armor, it increases by +1. If the base creature did not have Natural Armor, it gains Natural Armor +1. Base Speed: Increase Base Land Speed by 5 feet. Abilities: The following adjustments are added to the base creatures origanal adjustments. * The Beastborn's intellegence becomes 2. * +4 strength * +2 dexterity * +2 constitution * -4 charisma Alignment: changes to Neutral Challenge Rating: +2 Level Adjustment: LA+2 I made this template with the concept of a BBEG halfling, pyromaniac, ranger who rides a Beastborn Ogre into battle by using a platform straped to the ogres back, while weilded two bladed-whips, and throws flasks of alchemist fire to hurt enemys and burn down forests and has an eagle animal companion who will carpet bomb the PCs hiding in the forests (with alchemist fire, of course) ...Anyway, I'm wondering if this is balanced, or if I did something wrong with making it. I'm thinking of adding special abilities that are gained throug the amount of hitdice the creature has. Like the feindish template. |

Templates for exclusively NPC's can be as overpowered or underpowered as you wish, so it doesn't make any difference. The only thing I would like is a background how generally Beastborn Creatures are born. |

DM: The druid waves his hand, make a will save. Rouge: 23 Wizard: 22 Cleric: 24 Fighter: 6.. DM: the fighter, suddenly lets out a beast like howl, tears his clothes of his clothes, jumps out the window and squats down on the street... I many respects that would be worse than a save or die, as you can't be resurected because your not acturally dead though it could lead to some very interesting animal companions... I also considered it could be Oban-Hai or Ehlonna getting back at those city slickers. I'm not even going to consider the other plausible (and illegal as well as socialy unacceptable in nearly every country) reason for their existence... |
