| EvilVegan04-25-07, 06:15 PM | Lets say I just hit 5th level and I have 10000 xp. I become a necropolitan, lose a level and then lose 1000 xp. Raise dead says "as an energy-draining creature" Which leads me to negative levels, which state "You lose a level" OK I get that I lose a level, but how much XP do I lose for losing the level? 4000 to go from 5 to 4 or is there some other number, like 50% of what was needed? It doesn't specifically say what happens to XP, just level. What if I had had 14000 xp? |
| SpoonyBard04-25-07, 07:33 PM | You wind up at half the EXP between levels, so going from 2 to one brings you to 500 EXP. 3 to 2 brings you to 2,000 EXP, etc. |
| JellyPooga04-25-07, 07:33 PM | When you lose a level permanently, you are set to being half-way (xp wise) between the next lowest level. For Example, you are level 3 (3000xp) and die and are raised from the dead, losing one level. You are now level 2 and have 2000xp (1000xp = level 2 threshold, 3000xp = level 3 threshold, halfway between = 2000xp). If you were someway above level 3 (say 4000xp), any of the xp you are over is lost (thus losing a level just before levelling up is a *****). Negative levels are temporary jobs giving -1 to basically everything you do for 24 hours (unless otherwise stated). After 24 hours, you mst make a Fortitude save or lose the level permanently as per the above explained rules. |
| JellyPooga04-25-07, 07:36 PM | Oh, it also means you must be at least level 3 (also the most optimal level) to become a Necropolitan. Any lower and the Ritual destroys you. |
| Evil DM Mk304-25-07, 07:39 PM | Note in this isntance you then lose ANOTHER 1000xp. This can casue another de-leveling. |
| EvilVegan04-25-07, 07:40 PM | So she'd drop from 10000 to 8000 then to 7000? That sounds right. Finally found the rules in the DMG. |
