| Bannik05-12-07, 09:33 PM | hey guys If i were to make a c'tan (warhammer 40k necron god like beings) where should i start too look which books or monsters would help.... |
| Horus_Sungod05-12-07, 09:43 PM | Being both a D&D player and a Warhammer 40k General of DOOM!, I suggest an abomination from Epic Levle handbook. Maybe Infernal... They ARE some kind of god without being true deities, plus the power level is appropriate (epic). Plus, IIRC, Epic level handbook is open licence, so no worry about buying the book. |
| Kresalak05-12-07, 10:45 PM | **** the C'tan. Go with Khorne. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! |
| KillFrenzy05-13-07, 01:34 AM | **** the C'tan. Go with Khorne. BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD! **** oath man Blood for the blood god and skulls for the throne of brass! |
| Bannik05-13-07, 09:09 AM | khorne is too easy to make, just use a demon template, the war demons.....big and ugly and loves to fight |
| Horus_Sungod05-13-07, 10:04 AM | Perhaps you could also take an undead you like (from core or from libris mortis) and apply the paragon template on it. It would make a CR 23-29 monsters, which is appropriate power for a C'tan. And the Khorne Berserkers are cut down by the dozen by the Obliterators of the Iron Warriors! |

| GreatOne05-13-07, 04:44 PM | Theres a d20 40k source book alreadry made and its awesome. Though its about 900 pages because of all the stuff. Im thinking that C'Tan is in there. |
| Bannik05-27-07, 11:23 AM | here is a picky one....the c'tan are masters of the physical world, they lack powers of magic and the warp (Warhammer version of another dimension where psychic or magic comes from) so what powers should i give them... |
| Kamin_Majere05-27-07, 11:38 AM | A C'tan would be hard to stat out in a D&D style setting as the mechanics for abilities are so radically diffrent. You have a being capable of eating stars able to be hurt by a guy that puts on a big metal fist that some how doubles his strength. How odd would it be for a fighter to put on a gauntlet and go from STR 24 to STR 48... THe best thing i can come up with would be to lap epic templates (as much at i hate doing that) A Paragon, Pseudonatural, Divine rank 0 creature would fit well. It would give it the stat boost it would need from the base creature. Base it off of a lich i guess (wow 4 templates in 1 creature :weep: ) Nd mostly fill in about 20-30 class levels of various types according the C'tan you want to make. |

Base it off of a lich i guess (wow 4 templates in 1 creature :weep: ) Nd mostly fill in about 20-30 class levels of various types according the C'tan you want to make. what you have to remember is that the c'tan represented by the GW models are merely just lesser versions of the true c'tan. like an avatar to a deity. while they are incredibly hard, being an avatar and not a true deity-like being they can be killed much more easily. the true c'tan are just sat on some tomb-world somewhere eating the souls that have been harvested for them. i would suggest that if you wanted to stat one out start with the idea that it is an avatar, rather that a true c'tan (which would probably have power that of at least an intermediate deity). that being said the avatar would still be very butch, probably with a divine rank of 1-5, loads of outsider HD and some class levels to boot. i wouldnt worry too much about them not supposed to have magic, thats just fluff. any magical powers you do give them you can justify by saying they are so ridiculously powerful they have found a way of doing this without magic or what ever. dont make them undead because theyre not. although they and necrons may appear to be necrons are closer to living constructs and c'tan are pretty much just essence encased in living metal (which is basically just armour), and so you can use what is used to represent essence in D&D, outsider HD. if you ever do introduce these into your campaign world i feel very sorry for your PCs |
| Kamin_Majere05-27-07, 01:26 PM | Regwon, I understand where your coming from but in the game those arent actually avatars. Nightbringer and Deviever are "supposedly" there in flesh so to speak. It just so happens they are the weakest two of the remaining C'tan. Outsider has been feeding almost constantly and would be an order of magnitude stronger than either of the ones stated in the game and the dragon well i dont even like to think about that one as it destroys to much of the older fluff by intersecting it. Another problem importing them into the D&D universe is lack of the warp. If they truely are Untouchable gods of the prime material realm then where is the Warp stuffs that so terrifies them? The Eldar god were gods of both warp and real space, But the gods of Chaos are totally warp based as the C'Tan are totally prime material based. With out the balance what to stop them from simply eating all the souls of everyone. Thats why i still think its hard if not impossible to bring this creature into D&D. Espically not as a full blown god. The reason i added the lich template was due to the Necrodermis being able to reform itself after destruction. I couldnt think of anything more fitting off the top of my head. Though i suppose starting with a basic outsider set up and just add abilities might could fit. Still hard to figure out where in the challenge ratings it would be. Epic surely but as to where i would guess around the 50 mark. The highest challenge rating before you start getting into gods and cosmic beings (and epic dragons) |
