After all, if they want to play it, it's a reasonable assumption that they have the information for it. The basic idea of it is "They were Evil in life, but decided to repent just before they died. There was an extraplanar trial, and Pheonix Wright managed to get them a reduced sentence: being reincarnated as a Hellbred." This means a devil still owns their soul. When they die, unless they've done something appropriately good, such as seal Asmodeus away for eternity, solve world hunger and personally visit every house in Baldur's Gate/Sigil/Sharn to solve everyone's problems, they go straight to jail, do not pass go and do not collect 200GP. In other words, the devil claims them and their soul is still forfeit. If they did manage to do a good enough job to make up for all their mess-ups in life, they get to go to the good aligned afterlife that most suits them, as though they were always that alignment. That's the basic idea. They retain almost nothing of their former self, becoming a completely new race, and tend to look fiendish. |
