Centaur lance damage [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-01-07, 02:10 PM Where is it written (if it is at all) that a Centaur deals damage with a lance as if mounted? I've looked in both the Monster Manual and in Races of the Wild and I can't find it.

I'm pretty sure if it exists it's only in Races of Faurun, since that's where they introduced the concept of the Centaur being able to qualify for Spirited Charge without the Mounted Combat feat as well...
In either case, the idea has never made too much sense to me personally, unless you're going to let all quadrapeds do it, but whatever...

The only place this is written is in the Zelekhut (Inevitable) monster description, where it states that the Zelekhut can take and benefit from feats as though it had the Mounted Combat feat (as actually having the Mounted Combat feat for yourself would be cheezy). Anything else is a house-rule.

Since nothing else explicitly contradicts this information, I see no reason to disallow it.:)

I'm just saying that if you're going to bring the Inevitable into the argument, you need to bring up the part that really makes it relevant to the argument. :)

Taken directly from the Centaur entry:
COMBAT
Although mildly tempered, centaurs are always armed. Their favorite melee weapon is the longsword. When scouting or hunting, they carry composite longbows. A centaur employing a lance deals double damage when it charges, just as a rider on a mount does
