| ToastedAmphibian08-08-07, 07:57 PM | Would it be reasonable to let a centaur take the mounted combat feats? Ride by Attack and Spirited charge make great sense for a centaur,as there really isnt any reason why he couldnt, except for the fact that hes not "Technically" mounted. The pre req of ride and mounted combat are obviously useless but not really hard to meet so i guess it would be fine to requier them. But if you did let a Centaur take ride-by attack and spirited charge, would it make more snese to requier dodge and mobility for rideby attack instead of mounted combat and ride skill? Also, you could requier Power Attack for trample (As it is essentially improved over-run for a horse) What say you? |
| zorgling2508-08-07, 07:58 PM | Oh god...this argument again... Look, just take Spring Attack, before another argument about "are centaurs mounted" starts again. |

| Crimson_Concerto08-08-07, 08:15 PM | I'd be happy to. :) http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=882342 Yes, it's a 4-page-long debate, but it's a 4-page-long debate I don't think anybody feels like going through again. The thread should satisfy all of your questions, and if you feel like asking or commenting on something beyond what was discussed, we can go from there... |
| ToastedAmphibian08-08-07, 09:43 PM | Ok, so in summary; Centaurs deal double damage with a lance for no apparent reason Centaurs can take spirited charge withough any pre-req, for no apparent reason Centaurs have a special trample feat, which makes good sense Centaurs use large weapons but dont have reach, despite the fact that their top halves (Their weapon using halves) are the same size as a humans, and this makes no sense Centaurs cant take ride by attack, only spring attack, despite (or mabey beacause of) the fact that it would be incredibly more usefull for them (Cant charge on springattack, and thus cant do 3x lance damage) Crimson Concerto belives it is easier to do things while riding a mount than it is to do thoes same things while walking(eh? :} ) Now, if only someone would make a feat like: Charge Over: Req: Dodge, Mobility, dex13, str13, powerattack When charging an oponent one or more sizes smaller than you, you may attempt an overrun as a free action. If you succeed on this overrun attempt you must move atleast 10ft continuing the line of the charge. If you fail this attempt you end your turn prone in the square where your charge ended. This has no effect on your charge attack. If you can't move atleast 10 ft after your charge, for whatever reason, you cannot use this feat. Anyone think this sounds right? |
| zorgling2508-08-07, 10:07 PM | Isn't there a feat Centaur Trample in Races of the Wild, that does something like this? |
| ToastedAmphibian08-08-07, 10:16 PM | Im not sure, i havnt read the book. However i assumed it just gave a centaur trample. This is kinda a ride-by attack for everything on the ground. Its a mix of improved overun, spring attack, and charge. Unlike spring attack, you can charge, but if you want to keep moving, you have to keep moving straight. Unlike improved overrun, you can make an attack, but they can still choose to avoid your overrun, and if you fail, they automatically suceed on knocking you prone. (No check needed) It also has all the prereqes of spring attack and improved overun, and seems like a descent compromise between them that still makes sense. |
| ToastedAmphibian08-08-07, 10:17 PM | Well ok, i guess not everything. Diminutive creatures are still out of luck, unless someone has enlarge flea. (Things would actually make sense if centaurs used medium weapons and items though [Barring armor]) |

| ToastedAmphibian08-08-07, 10:39 PM | Stupid WoTC! Centaurs should use medium weapons, then the charge thing would actually make sense. |
| snakeman83008-09-07, 10:35 AM | Stupid WoTC! Centaurs should use medium weapons, then the charge thing would actually make sense. What, and have yet another set of special rules regarding them? I don't think so. |
| Steely_Dan08-09-07, 10:57 AM | Didn't they clear this up in Races of Faerun (centaurs qualify for any feats requiring Mounted Combat)? Like the Zelekhut. |
| ToastedAmphibian08-09-07, 04:14 PM | Didn't they clear this up in Races of Faerun (centaurs qualify for any feats requiring Mounted Combat)? Like the Zelekhut. NO STOP! DONT DO IT! HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS |
| Crimson_Concerto08-09-07, 04:38 PM | Didn't they clear this up in Races of Faerun (centaurs qualify for any feats requiring Mounted Combat)? Like the Zelekhut.NO, THEY DIDN'T CLEAR THAT UP, BECAUSE IT'S NOT TRUE!!! :censored: :tantrum: :headexplo :banghead: :censored: :tantrum: :headexplo :banghead: :hoppingma :hoppingma *ahem* This was discussed in the other thread as well to the furthest extent it CAN BE discussed, so let's PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD not start it again. :weep: |
| snakeman83008-10-07, 02:58 PM | I am in complete agreement here with Crimson_Concerto and ToastedAmphibian. Let's avoid going through that argument again at any cost. |
