| riftdragon08-15-07, 12:50 PM | Chargers (need name suggestions) Description: Chargers appear to be a large humanoid with very big heads and giant muscles. It has hair covering its extremities and its head also there appears to be small plates on bone covering its forearms History: The history of the chargers is a sad one. They were primarily used as slaves for all manner of races; elves, dwarves, gnomes, humans, drow, and even halflings. They eventually rose up against their masters and ran away to be free. All races seem to have forgotten the fact that they were slaves except the Chargers. Relations with other races: The Chargers are willing to forgive the other races; however the races will not apologize and grow to dislike the Chargers demands for apologies. However individual Chargers are willing to ignore the fact of this if they are all working toward a goal that is good.. Alignment: On the Majority, Chargers are a lawful good race, there are those who are chaotic or neutral in both aspects, however there are seldom evil chargers. The likelihood of finding an evil chargers are the same of finding a needle in a haystack Religion: Most of the chargers worship Nature itself. However there are those who worship other gods. Abilities: Type: Humanoid Base Speed: 30 feet Size: Large (wide), as large(long) but wide instead, however they have the same squeezing rule as a large(tall Character. Ability Modifiers:+4 Strength,-2 Dexterity, +4 Constitution ,-2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma: Chargers are strong and tough, however the mind is more bent on controlling their muscles so that they don’t grind their own bones into dust or tear themselves apart. Natural Armor 1 Strong Arm: Chargers have immense muscle density in their arms. This allows them to wield a 2 handed weapon in one hand with no penalty. Favored Class: Barbarian or fighter, This classes come as naturally as breathing to Chargers LA:? Racial Feat: Remove Limiters: Prereq: Charger Effect: 3/day for 1d4 plus 1/2 Con modifier rounds, rounded down. A charger Gains a +4 Circumstance Bonus to their Str score. At the end of this time the Chargers is sickened for 2d4 rounds and fatigued for 2d6 rounds. Remove Limiters, Total Prereq:Charger, Remove Limiters, 8HD Effect:3/day for 1d8 plus 1/2 Con modifier rounds, rounded down. A charger Gains a +8 Circumstance Bonus to their Str score. | bobothechimp08-15-07, 07:32 PM | Too much for LA +1, not enough for LA +2. |
| riftdragon08-16-07, 01:14 PM | Any suggestions? |
| AtsuiShoto08-17-07, 02:24 AM | Hm. I like this race, I do. I particularly like the unusual size, Large(wide), and taking the attack and AC penalties without gaining reach. Still, I'd have to agree it's a bit too strong for +1 LA. Perhaps add some sort of squeezing rules to address the unique size. I'm thinking that the same squeezing rules should apply for Large(wide) as for regular 10'x10' Large size. Also, a -2 Dex penalty would make perfect sense to me. Between these two additions, I think the Charger would become quite well balanced. Otherwise, I'd just throw in 2 Humanoid hit dice, but I dislike raising the ECL on PC races. That racial feat is, I think, overpowered. I'd set it to 3/day uses (because, honestly, what Charger won't have a +6 or better modifier?) and a variable number of rounds... say 1d4 plus 1/2 Con modifier rounds, rounded down. In addition, I'd drop it to +4 Strength. Remember, the circumstance bonus stacks with everything, including the +8 racial and +4 from Rage. That's a total of +16, for a likely score of 34 available at ECL 2! Of course, with a minimum of only 3 or 4 rounds before becoming nigh-useless in combat, it's fairly well balanced. You just have to be sure to end the fight while you're still crazy-strong. If you want the feat to be more useful at high levels, add a second racial feat "Remove Limiters, Total" with "Remove Limiters" and 8 HD as the prerequisites. It'll increase the duration to 1d8 plus 1/2 Con modifier rounds (instead of 1d4), and increase the Strength bonus to +8 like you said. The penalties would stay as per "Remove Limiters". Ta da! Hope it helps. |
| riftdragon08-17-07, 01:59 PM | Thanks:D Thought i should shrink the penalties for the Slight Down grade. And made it more of a double edge sword in latter levels. |
| baby_kamikaize_kobold08-17-07, 08:39 PM | This seems like a good idea and fits in LA +1 nicely |
