Chart for level adjustment? [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-07-07, 01:51 AM Is there some sort of chart in any of the books or on the web somewhere that shows what would cause LA to go up and down? I wanted to create my own race for an upcoming campaign.

The Savage Species book goes into some detail on it, but at the end of the day, all you can do is playtest it and see how it compares to everything else.

It also says to judge by a non-level adjusted race at the same effective character level and see which would be better.

There is also a feature point system on the boards (I don't have a link to it).

It would be best run it by all three if you can.

12-07-07, 02:15 AM Alright I shall check out the Savage species then. I want to make a race of Abyssal Elves. They wouldn't really be much diffrent than normal elves except for where the bonuses are. I use the description of "When presented with a locked door to the BBEG's lair, a normal elf will pick the lock and use a few fancy sword moves to defeat the foe. An abyssal elf, on the other hand, will rip the obstructing door from it's hinges and use it as an improvised weapon to knock the BBEG ten kinds of senseless."
