Concept: Arcane Battler Template [Archive] - Wizards Community

Something about your heritage has tied you directly to fiends, demons, Tiamat or Buhamid. These individuals are commonly dragged into the battle between Tiamat and Buhamid (Spelling?)
Template:
Requirements: A race capable of casting arcane spells.

Traits:
* Can not cast divine spells.
-2 Wis
Born Battle Caster: In all arcane classes you may now cast spells while in light armor. If you join an arcane casting class that already can cast in armor then you gain the ability to cast in the next heavier armor.
Favorite Class: Favorite Class Changes to Hex Blade or Dusk Blade.

08-02-07, 04:46 PM This really doesn't seem like a template at all. It seems more like a character trait from Unearthed Arcana than a template. The inability to cast divine spells seems kind of pointless, since anyone who would take this isn't likely to cast divine spells anyway. It overall seems like a backround feat that is too powerful, so you added a -2 to wisdom to it. In that sense, I guess it's kind of balanced.

But not really, because (again) characters that would take this trait/feat/etc. won't really be relying on Wisdom.

Wisdom does apply to saves, and wisdom base skills, but I see your point.
