Spikes01k 03-18-07, 01:09 PM	This is a disscuction on what it would take to get a Lesser Goliath and/or Half Goliath. The starter is the usual, a cross breed with humans, however I don't think that sort of thing is very likly, so maybe half orcs? The desired end results: * Ecentually everything identical to a Goliath with the following changes. * -2 dex; replacing the current stat adjustments. * Humanoid; instead of monsterus * LA 0; instead of +1 What do you think? Probable? Still to powerful for a LA 0? Just a bad idea altogether? PS; with the half orc/goliath varient * +2 str, -2 dex, -2 Int, -2 Wis * +2 racial bonus to spot and listen, Lose all Goliath Skill bonuses though PSS: with the first posting, I wonder if I could get away with a +2 Con and still keep it a LA 0??? Lesser Goliath Charactersitics -2 Dex 30ft movment Medium Size Humanoid Powerful Build +2 Climb +2 Sense Movite with other Goliaths and Lesser Goliaths Edit 3:Hill Orcs Hill Orcs are a product of a tribe of Goliaths that closer to the bottum of moutains than most. They opened their ranks and adpoted half orcs and some humans into their tribe. Over the years with the mixing of the bloods and traditions they became what is now known as Hill Orcs. Currently there are only a dozen tibes, but they are very big exsisting near mountain bases. There are rumors of some dwarven blood being mixed in with them due to the trading relations between them but that has never been confermed. Hill orcs look a great deal like half orcs in shape but with an equivolent stocky build of a dwarf, when compared to humans and dwarfs. They have little hair, mostly on the head and thing hair on the back, but occationally a beard with the males. The hair can be brown, grey, or black. The skin tends to mimic the texture and color of goliaths. Their culture tends to mimic goliath's culter but with them entities being hill orcs instead, and some other varriants of belief to better fit their geography. I personally can't see members of Goliath society breeding with Orcs myself based on the Goliath 'Relations' flavor text in Races of Stone. Goliaths tend to hold goblinoids and orcs (including half-orcs) at arm's length, noting that the "downlanders" they trade with regard such races as troublemakers. But because goblinoids rarely stray into the high mountains, they are usually someone else's trouble, so goliaths don't bear them any actual malice. Also, even with a penalty to Dexterity I'd never give a +0 LA race Powerful Build...

Well that is your personal opinion on the -2 dex and LA, it can't possible be that powerful by example of Goliaths them-selves. They have severly over powered stats powerful build and three two other racial stats that equal to feats. I would say, alone Powerful build is worth two feats. Each core race gets two racial feats, with the exception of gimped half orcs. So they have one feat taking up the bonus to spot and listen, and then you have the remainng, usually powerful feat, and the compinsation to -2 dex remaining to balance the powerful build. I think it's balanced.

G_Mancer 03-18-07, 11:55 PM	i have to say.... anything less than full goliath would probabbly not have powerful build... imho yes the halff/lesser would be a +0 LA untill a couple seconds ago i was gonna say that you might have a problem combining monstrous humanoid with humanoid... but there is a half giant...and half elementals and everythign else you can concieve......so nevermind.

Also a note, it is my understanding that Goliaths are a combination of giants, or half giants, and stone elementals. So it would be safe to say that they could also be combined with half orcs.
