construct-y robot-ish character race [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-26-08, 07:52 PM i was wondering if anyone made a robotish character, i know that there are warforged but i was looking for something a little more robot (attached weapons would be cool)

any help is greatly appreciated :D

02-26-08, 08:16 PM Warforged can get attached weapons, last I remember, and the prestige class Warforged Juggernaut makes them much more construct. I may be wrong, but I think they even lose their Living Construct subtype...

EDIT: It may help if you tell us what exactly about Warforged doesn't fit for what you want. Usually Warforged is enough for people wanting to play that concept...

I remember some 'clockwork creations' from AD&D 2nd ed, I dunno if they found their way into 3.0 and 3.5. Gnomes in that eddition had made some 'Clockwork Golems' and the like. My favorite was a 'Clockwork Swordsman'.

02-27-08, 04:03 PM The maug (Fiend Folio) and nimblewright (MM2) are sentient constructs that predate warforged. The nimblewright has built-in rapiers, and the maug has the option of grafting some interesting weapons to itself. Both are higher-ECL monsters, though.

I've seen several homebrew construct races posted here in the past, but I'm too lazy to dredge them up right now. You should be able to find them with a little effort.

02-27-08, 04:47 PM The Exiled Modron is exactly what you are looking for, they are basically cubic robots with skinny, stick-like arms and legs. They are compeltly based on law and order, and overall a really cool race to play.

I'm unsure of how you mean 'sentient' in this case. Self aware? Living? Capable of learning?
When compared to Warforged, I suppose they aren't technically 'alive' the way a Warforged is, but when you really consider it, Maug and Nimblewright, and an other kind of construct, really, has a certain level of sentience, which leads me to wonder if Warforged truly are special in that respect?
Are not all constructs somehow...alive? Or is it truly as simple as having a Con and Int score?

Suddenly I find myself much more philosophical than I planned to be. >_>

does anyone have any items that are for warforged? or any ideas how to attach weapons to them?

02-27-08, 09:59 PM There are tons and tons of Warforged components that fasten to a Warforged's arm or leg or back or face.

Battle Fist, Winged Cape, Tracker's Mask, Docent, etc. etc.

Check Eberron Campaign Setting, Magic of Eberron, Races of Eberron, and possibly the Player's Guide to Eberron.
