I have no idea if there's anything like this, but what if there was a race that was totally immune to all forms of magic/psionics/ etc?

they couldn;t be casters of any kind as they lack the infitessimal spark needed to fule any form of magic. they couldn't use magic weapons/items, as their innate nullification of magic would surpress the effect (ala antimagic field, but only for things they're in contact with).

You could go a combat class or something like that i guess... but, hmm... only stuff your holding? Hard to say whether this would work or not...

In one way i wanna say HUGE level adjustement but in another way i wanna say not TOO huge... i know the race Karsite can't use arcane or clerical magic, and they get spell resistance, but not like anti-magic or anything...

I'm not sure.. sounds interesting however i don't think i would let a pc be this... actually it might but one would need to balance it really carfully...

That being said i did host a epic level game where one of my players played a balor paliden... lol was interesting...

One of my friends played a sea-elf vampire paladin rogue with a gigantic alligator for mount

Well mine got even better when he was higher level... his mount was a giant angel... ha ha... he justified it so i gave it to him...

or the f*cked chaos mage... he was insane, deeply insane! had a rod of wonder, used it every round if no enemy was near, he targeted some random object in the vicinity.

I hope you realise thats not as bad as this... The balor pc walks into a temple of
Heironeous and kills the entire temple and then justifies it by saying that low level hero's do more harm than good in the battle of good vers evil....

Balor + Slaughter + paliden... = .... GREATER GOOD!!!!!!!! wat the hell.

I docked my player exp for that but not before i had finished laughing

There is a monster that kind of has some of those abilities. Looking at it could help. MMIV page 15 called Balhannoth. Also you could be a spell theif as a caster for your new race.

i was thinking the race would have an sntimagic like effetc about them, not a radius or anything, strictly limited to them, they could be casters if they wanted, but it wouldn;t reall do anything as they can;t use magic, i was thinking they wouldn't be allowed to gain spell like or supernatural abilites, only extraordinary ones.

the chaos mage left quite an unusual trail though... what happens when the stone to flesh/flesh to stone effect hit a rock...

Discorporated lump of inert flesh... me like! >=D

To the OP, grappling with these buggers could get hairy, what do you say? One item on the opponent (choose opponent, random item, as you can have a multi-grapple) is nullified, or all of them?

oh damm, never thought of that, i'd say (for the feeling i'm going for) all of them. since they're immune to all magic, things like flaming swords and the like wouldn;t work either.....mabey this would make a better tenplate? but since there's no way to create these peope....i thought they could be a race..hmm, but a template would allow it to be applied to other races.....hmmm....

Ya know, i once tried to do this to make a naturally healing PC race from the Tomb Tappers from Faerun...No one commented on it though :weep:. However this may be because it was animated stone and the stone to flesh spell didn't work because of it...hmm...what if you did this to a statue! Anything you want can now be made easily without having to homebrew it!

P.S. The Karsites plus some of the classes listed above are probably your best bet.

Quick Draft:

Innate nullification:
Are not affected by magic of any kind (that includes divine, arcane and psionics spellcasting) but they are also unable to use the magic of anything they are in contact with(as in armors, swords, scrolls, etc) and can't cast spells of any type.

(some skill bonuses or a minor trait)

LA +1
Favored class: any non spellcaster

Usual classes they pick: Rogue, Fighter,Expert(healers take Herbalism instead of Alchemy).

BTW

What about Bards and Marshalls they got their bardic music/auras removed by the nullifiation too ? and what about monks and ninjas? what if one member of this race becomes wizard and writes a magic scroll? the scroll works or not ? What happens to him if a guy goes planescape? What happens when they die? They can be resurrected?

Next:

add more traits, aiming to a LA+4 creature.Maybe a few more drawbacks are needed.

It just occurred to me that certain magic, especially that not subjected to spell resistance, would not be affected by their immunity. Figments for example. So they don't actually have immunity to all magic, just the kinds that would directly affect them.

Um... They cant have any magic items, nor can they use magic themselves...

I can see anything with damage reduction 5/magic (Or 10.. ugly) completley kicking there ass...

And then, what about magic and supernatural diseases?
I know these guys would be the favored food of vampires. (Absolutly no chance of them having a way to bypass vampiric DR and very very little chance of them oneshotting mr vamp. No fire spells or save or turn to dust effects)

If the vampire touches them, does the vampire beome cured? Is yoru race immune to vampirisim/lycanthropy/mummy rot?

If teh vampire drains them to zero con, do they rise as a vampire with no supernatural abilites?.... good god that would be odd...

Edit: They would get Spider climb, Fast Healing, Resistance, Turn resistance and blood drain. They would not get energy drain, create spawn, domination, DR, or anything else INCLUDING GASEOUS FORM

What happens if they then get reduced to zero hitpoints? Do they just have to walk all the way back to there coffins then?

I really don't think this race would work as a player character.

Think about it. Yes you would be immune to some of the nasty spells that get thrown at PCs, but what happens when they get hurt?

Even using the heal skill, it may take several days to recover from the effects of a single encounter. Wheras most parties would expect to go through several encounters each day.

Walking out of that mage's fireball unharmed won't do you any good if his summoned minions put you in traction for the next week.

They act like the vast majority of undead and lie on the ground... forever. The best you could hope for is if you are in a permanently shaded area and/or have a buddy come by.

Theoretically, summoned creatures would vanish upon touching a Nullkin. (OP, hope you don't mind me naming them.)

OK. Replace "summoned minions" with "hired goons" or "devious traps". :P

I was thinking that to them magic wouldn;t exist, say a mage casts mirror image, everyone else sees the images, but the Ungifted don't, they wouldn;t see the light from a light spell, they'd see the distruction caused by a fire ball, but not the magical fire.

So, basically you would have to split them up from teh rest of teh players during every encounter in which there is the possibility of magic, and give them a seperate description of events?

it takes like 3 seconds to describe the scene to the Ungifted. there wouldn;t be a need to split the players up, the Ungifted could greatly aid a party, or hinder it. the immunity to magic, the fact that they can;t even percive it, really could be both a massive aid or a deadly penalty.

as for summoned creatures, since the magic is over and the creature is summoned...wellm is the magic keeping it around to fight, or does the magic send it back at the end of the duration, if the magic is constant, then it would be as if, to the creature, that the Ungifted person wasn;t there. if the magic was only to bring and banish, then it could sense and attack as normal.
