| Spikes01k04-23-08, 07:35 AM | Well I got this ideal character race, but I can't think of how to do it. The main problem is that the base of it is a Dragon Born. So I want this. Dragon Born+Dark Creature+Feral Creature templates. So, if I am not mistaken, in becoming the dragon born you lose most template abilities, and I can't think of any way to obtain the templates with out agreeing to an optional rule from 3e. So if the forum could please help me out! |
| Spiritwalker04-23-08, 09:04 AM | well, you can get the dark creature template from a magic item 'the collar of umbral transformation' in the shadow magic section of Tome of Magic. Permenant version costs 22,000gp. Then for the feral template, look in both Savage Species and Dungeon Masters' guide for ideals on changing race and template mid-campaign. As a location treasure, a +1 template addition to your base race shouldn't be that bad as long as the quest to get it is challenging. Talk to you GM, and depending what the starting level of the campaign is, possibly giving up a level of experience as a way to pay for it will work. With those adjustments, you could get the Dragonborn template first, so getting the others later will still work. Sorted. |

Well if I get the feral template progression as I have in my sig, would that be effected by the dragon born template then? |
| Spiritwalker04-24-08, 06:45 PM | well. i'd have to say, as it is homebrew, i'd say that would be up to the DM - after all, when it comes down to it, its his game and his rule is law. personally, i don't allow the feral template at all - far, far too overpowered, though i do think your progression is a viable alternative |

P.S. I got this great character concept. This poor gray elf was disgarded from his monistary life do to the fact that he was 1/8th shadow dragon and 1/8th fang dragon (1 parent was 1/4th shadow dragon other was 1/4th fang dragon) This brought him nothing but trouble because he was commonly, unjustifiably associated with evil dragons. After a horrible twist of fate his only friend did get kill by such a dragon. This made him understand why they had such hatred of them and devoted his life to fight them. So eventually he became a dragon born; however this did not remove his cursed blood line. Now he tries to use what skills he is gifted and cursed with to fight the good fight. |
| Spiritwalker04-25-08, 04:46 AM | sounds good - i can see why you were interested in the Dragon Lord base class. I'm actually going to be running an Eberron campaign soon, and was considering making a recuuring NPC of a Dragonforged (Dragonborn Warforged) Psion/ Psychic Warrior. His backstory was that the dragons of Argonessen traded with the drow of Xen'drik for the technology to create Warforged in the ancient past, with the sole purpose of hunting down the spawn of Tiamat. Using powerful magic they changed the template to be more Draconic, and infused the creations with dragonfire. Pretty stupid, but it also opens up the door for the dragonborn template in Eberron - just changing the fluff that they're not devoted to Bahamut but still to hunting evil dragons |
