When you select a creature {a gnoll for example} at first level do you get the class hit die AND the creature hit die. Like 2d8 hp for the gnoll + 1d10 for a fighter at first level? |
| Radijs07-29-07, 05:52 PM | No. And yes. A gnoll has a LA (thats level adjustment) of +1 and 2 racial hit die. So the minimum level at which a gnoll is playable is level 4. At that level it will get 2d8+1d10 as its hit dice and is effectively a 4th level character. for more info see my sig. |

For example: The Gnoll cannot advance as a fighter until you've reached ECL=3HD+1LA=4. For an ECL4 Character is 10,000 XP. Edit: Radijs beat me to it, but said the same thing. |
