Cursed template [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-04-07, 01:39 AM My wife has finally agreed to give D&D a try again. SHe is a big fan of "Ladyhawke" & would like to create a character that is cursed to turn into an animal from time to time & can do so at will. Any suggestions as to how this can be pulled off within the rules of the game? She wont be able to show up for EVERY game so she thought this would be a good explaination for why she isn't there sometimes.

06-04-07, 01:58 AM Lycanthrope comes to mind, though she'd have to be small (gnome/halfling) to turn into a hawk, or she could turn into a dire hawk. You could give her a homebrew curse however.

It'll be somewhat of a challenge to create physical obsticles for someone who can reduce 2 sizes and fly at will.

06-04-07, 02:11 AM A Hengeyokai could pull it off. Modify the Crane to add claw attacks and Rake. Should work pretty well. You could probably get away with eliminating the Hybrid form in exchange for that an an extra daily change

Take the shapeshift alt. class feature from the Player's Handbook II and make it an involuntary day/night transformation. The predator form and aerial form should be just what you are looking for.

She wasn't looking to be a bird of any type. specifically, just how to make a character that was cursed to turn into an animal. She originally thought a "big cat" like a panther or something but I am afraid that may be a bit too "munchkiny" for my tastes. We may do a serpent or a smaller cat.
