Do Halflings get the +1 TH if they used a thrown weapon in melee (like dagger)? [Archive] - Wizards Community

The SRD states that halflings get:

"+1 racial bonus on attack rolls with thrown weapons and slings."

And further on:

"Thrown Weapons: Daggers, clubs, shortspears, spears, darts, javelins, throwing axes, light hammers, tridents, shuriken, and nets are thrown weapons. The wielder applies his or her Strength modifier to damage dealt by thrown weapons (except for splash weapons)."

Does this mean that if I attack someone with a dagger in melee I get the +1 to hit because it is a "thrown weapon" Or do I have to thrown the weapon to get the bonus?

It's not a thrown weapon if you don't, y'know, throw it.

Too true, some times common sense and rules don't go together.
