| celestialkin08-03-07, 02:18 PM | We were just having a discussion about this on an imageboard, so I thought you guys would be the ones to ask. Are their legs and feet still hairy? Do they wear shoes now? It really doesn't say either way in the PHB. |
| RobbyPants08-03-07, 02:21 PM | I've gotten the distinct impression that WotC has decided to make them more Kender-like in 3E. I feel this way because it does not mention their furry feet, they are much more slender, and they get that bonus against fear. |
| Ell08-03-07, 02:25 PM | Their feet are not hairy unless you are in Tolkien's world or the DM rules they are. You can see many pictures of halfings in many D&D books and they all wear shoes. |
| Onikani08-03-07, 02:48 PM | Yes. And Belkar from OoTS (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0439.html) is proof. |
| Salla08-03-07, 06:44 PM | I have yet to see a picture of them sans shoes or boots, but I would say no, since they're not hobbits. |
| JarionSilverblades08-03-07, 08:06 PM | I believe when WOTC launched 3 edition they revised the halfling, they no longer have the furry feet that we all recognize from Tolkien's work. I think they also changed it so dwarf women no longer have beards. I might be wrong though. :duel: |

I might be wrong though. :duel: You are correct, dwarven women no longer have beards (which was a really stupid idea in the first place. Definitely better this way). |
| TheAnthroDM08-03-07, 09:53 PM | *Takes a deep breath* Theentireideathathalflingshavehairyfeati sentirelystupiditwasstupidonhobbitsandit sstupidonhalflingsthatbeingsaid NO! |
| celestialkin08-03-07, 10:58 PM | You are correct, dwarven women no longer have beards (which was a really stupid idea in the first place. Definitely better this way). Why? I find it a shame really. It was kind of funny in my opinion. |
| Ecalsneerg08-04-07, 07:24 AM | Why? I find it a shame really. It was kind of funny in my opinion. Saved money of fur wraps. A bit of conditioner and off they went. |
| RobbyPants08-04-07, 10:20 AM | Yes. And Belkar from OoTS (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0439.html) is proof. As much as I love OOTS, in Rich's world, goblins are also green and about as tall as people. :P |
| Otogi08-04-07, 10:28 AM | Why? I find it a shame really. It was kind of funny in my opinion. Because cleavage, at lest to dwarves, is not underrated, I suppose. |
| Yaeri08-04-07, 10:30 AM | Depends on your DM entirely. In the beginning they all had hairy feet, because they were just hobbits straight from Tolkien's works. LAter They were changed more and more to not be hobbits, because of copyrights. The current rules' flavour doesn't mention anything either way about their feet I think. It may also depend on the campaign world. For example, I know there are still dwarven women with beards in forgotten realms. |
| celestialkin08-04-07, 02:57 PM | SNIP... It may also depend on the campaign world. For example, I know there are still dwarven women with beards in forgotten realms. Really? Do you know where this information is printed? My current DM plays almost exclusively in the Forgotten Realms, so I could use this to get a few lols from my friend who loves playing Dwarves. :D |
| Yaeri08-04-07, 03:39 PM | Well, coincidentally, I looked this information up barely a few days ago. Hence I felt the urge to reply here. Races of faerun. Just go to either shield dwarves or gold dwarves (and one other dwarven race I thought) and read the first paragraph. The first paragraph always describes what they look like. |
| ADHadh08-04-07, 03:49 PM | Bearded dwarven women are funnier. You can fill 'Gender' with 'Dwarf' :P I'm sure halflings still have hairy feet, although they're considered unsightly. |
| GypsyComet08-05-07, 09:47 PM | Hairy feet on Halflings? Beards on Dwarven women? Both questions have the same answer: Campaign world dependent. If *your* referee states yes or no "in my game", then he is right. Any attempt to impose an outside answer is, by definition, a suggestion, not an answer. |
| JarionSilverblades08-06-07, 08:35 PM | Hairy feet on Halflings? Beards on Dwarven women? Both questions have the same answer: Campaign world dependent. That is the best answer I've heard, wish it was mine. :duel: |
| dragonearwax08-06-07, 10:49 PM | Bearded female ninja dwarves anyone! :D |
| BlackHalfDragon08-06-07, 11:08 PM | no if they were it'd be a turnoff from lidda and we couldnt have that.. |
| pale_enchantress08-07-07, 03:04 AM | No they don't have hairy feet anymore. Halflings are now kleptomaniac little psycho's oozing with sex appeal and dressing in all sorts of bondage leather gear. |
| InkBlot08-07-07, 03:41 AM | In Eberron - no. Halflings may go barefoot, but their feet are no more harrier (probably less) than a humans. Halflings are not hobbits. Depending on where they are from, halflings are either fierce dinosaur riding tribal warriors, well educated cosmopolitan doctors, tiny portable hotels, or uncouth little guttersnipes. In generic straight-out-of-the-PHB/DMG/MM D&D - no. Halflings are not hobbits. They're nomadic gypsies, or uncouth little guttersnipes. In your world, they're whatever you want them to be. |
