06-24-07, 09:28 PM I'm looking at the Doppleganger in Races of Destiny. They have a LA of +4, and start with 4 levels of Monstrous Humanoid.

Does that mean the first level they can take a class level is ninth level? (4 Monstrous Humanoid, 1 Class Level, for an ECL 9), or does the LA account for the levels of Monstrous humanoid, allowing you to take your first class level at 5th?

Then class levels.

Changelings (ECS) are a lot better for PCs than Dopplegangers, (No LA, No racial HD) and there is a PrC for the called the cabinet trickster (RoE) that lets them gain the full powers of true dopplegangers.
