Vandeus 02-12-08, 10:18 AM	So, one of my players said he wants to be a doppleganger rogue, which is fine with me, it will help with the story line. But in determining XP, will he be a 9th level character at 1st level (1 for class, 4 for racial HD, and +4 level adjustment)? If so, that seems kind of steep for the campaign. Is there a template or similar race that will work better for his character which provides similar benefits with not so much of an increase in level? Or, do you think if I just dropped the racial HD it would work? Thanks
nighttree 02-12-08, 11:31 AM	Races of Destiny has a "Doppelganger monster class" so that a Doppelganger character can be played at low levels. Otherwise, yes, he would be a 9th level character as a Doppelganger with one class level....which means to be balanced with the other characters everyone would need to start at 9th level. Another option is to have him start as a Changling Rogue, and take the cabinet trickster PrC, which grants many of the Doppelganger abilities to a changling.
