| zook1shoe66604-28-07, 11:52 PM | interesting.... definitely not a +0 LA, more like a +1 |
| Loth05-02-07, 01:02 AM | Bump! Please I need help adjusting the LA? Comments are welcome! :D |
| adgramaine05-02-07, 02:31 AM | um.... I'm torn. Powerful build off-sets the Medium sized "penalty" for this giant race. The ability score bonuses are not insanely unbalancing, especially when you look at the Save Penalties. But having a -2 to all saves against magic (all kinds? Maybe change this to one or two schools of magic, or a kind of magic... say Truenaming or Shadow Magic) would make this a game breaker in most games I know of. DnD, at default, is magic-heavy. Many creatures across the CR board have spell-like abilities, and many of those are used extensively in combat encounters. Are they a desert race, or a people used to warmer climes? I assume so, due to the penalty to cold effects. Why not give them Heat Endurance, or a bonus to fire-typed attacks and saves? And a penalty to diseases and poisons... wow. I don't know about other DMs out there, but I love poisons, and my current campaign is disease-heavy. Okay, I know I am thinking while typing, so I apologize if I ramble. *ahem* Try a +2 bonus to all Fire and heat based Fort saves (unless it goes against your racial theme to do so, of course), and increase the skill bonuses to a +4, and I would give it a +1 in my own home brew game. As is, I wouldn't allow it for play since it has pretty table-heavy penalties. But, if your game is going to be low-magic, and no gritty realism forcing saves against disease every time the characters enter a dungeon, then go for it as is, with the LA at +0. Purists will say the giant subtype warrants a LA, but in this case I will have to disagree.... |
| Loth05-02-07, 03:41 AM | Thanks adgramaine Yeah it´s a heavy magic world, the penalities aren´t against all magic, just arcane magic so I will edit This is to compensate the abilities bonuses I like your comments, about resistance to fire it fits the concept, so i will include it... Raising the bonus to skills wont be to much? I realy want LA +0 I prefer outdors campaings most of adventures are on wilderness, few dungeons I dont use much diseases, but poisons I love the black lotus.. The giant type seems interesting but i has it´s disvantages I dont think it deserves a +1 LA... Thank you so much More comments????? AnyonE??????????? :) |
| adgramaine05-02-07, 03:51 AM | If it is going to be magic heavy, then keep the skill bonuses at +2. I think if you do that, the race could work. The penalties are still bothering me. If you can, I would try and design a Feat or three unique to the race. Make them flavorful, but not overly crunchy, and it will probably make this race more immediately appealing. Since they are a warrior people, and their favored class is Warblade, I would suggest Tactical feats (as found in such books as Complete Warrior). All this is, of course, opinion... :D |
