Just a request before I try and design it myself, anyone know of someone who made lycanthropy into a draconic affliction? Instead of a Were-wolf a Were-dragon in the simplist means, or any similar effects?

It's an idea for a character is all, and I'm just curious if anyone has rules for it already.

(Hope this is supposed to go under races.)

the hybrid form could give you something similair to the draconic template while the full for would be more like a half-dragon.

If you get HD from the template tey should give the same effects that go with a dragons HD.

well youll likely end up shapechanging into a dragon of your age...
so if we had Dragon-thropes, they would almost always begin as a wyrmling.

However ive wanted to do something like this before... and what i ended up doing was just making a Wyvern-thrope, because i wanted something less powerful and still playable... something on par with a regular lycanthrope.

You dont have to do that though.
theres really two ways to do this.

One, try and make this adaptable to all the standard dragon types...
which is best done as a template... likely a combination of the half dragon template and the lycanthrope template...and will end up between +4 and +6 most likely.
or two...
Make this something of its own, and seperate from the standard dragons...
something that is caused by a particular sort of dragon, and turns you into that same sort of dragon. I would suggest doing this as a Monster class/Monster.

Either way you have to decide, can the base creature advance in age categories... because that makes this considerably more challenging.

Ill work on it and get back to you.

Also, this could be in races, but is probably better suited for the monsters section.

this is likely a good idea.
its MUCH lower powered than any other route, and could keep you at about a +3/+4, on par with a standard Lycanthrope.

All youd have to say is that the hybrid looks like a halfdragon, but functions like the draconic template. Then the Full dragon form LOOKS like a Large sized dragon, but functions like the half dragon.

thats not so bad really. i think ill try and whip this up.

p.s. i think Dragon magazines has some MONSTER CLASSES that let you play a dragon.

I made two judgement calls.

One, i decided to have a powered down hybrid form with only afew of the advantages of a dragon and only allow the Dragonthrope to fly in its full dragon form.

Two, i decided that the template/race shouldn't be able to be "afflicted", but instead is something that is instead an alternative to the "half-dragon" template.

anyway, here it is.

Draconthrope

Draconthropes are humanoids who can transform themselves into Dragons as the result of some Draconic meddling in the bloodline, and is often the result of having a Dragon parent. Many Draconthropes begin their lives knowing their heritage, though sometimes a Draconic heritage is discovered later in life, through some expirience that awakens the creature to its true nature. The term "Draconthrope" is actually a misnomer, as they are actually not Dragons at all, but only Dragonblooded Shapechangers.

In its natural form, a Draconthrope looks like any other members of its race, though older Draconthropes tend to have or acquire features reminiscent of their Draconic forms. Draconthropes also have a Hybrid form, though it looks more like an Clawed, Scaled, Wingless and Erect Walking version of a Dragon than it does a true dragon. Draconthropes have a third, more powerful form, which resembles that of a natural Dragon. In Dragon form, a Draconthrope resembles a younger version of the normal Dragon, but on close inspection, it is apparent that the dragon has humanoid eyes.

Combat

A Draconthrope in its humanoid form uses whatever tactics and weapons are favored by others of its kind, though it tends to be slightly more aggressive. A Draconthrope possesses some of the senses of its Dragon form, including dark-vision to 60ft and low-light vision. Draconthropes instinctively know the Draconic language as if it were a racial language.

A Draconthrope in Dragon form fights like the Dragon it resembles and posesses many of the traits common to that breed of dragon.

Finally, a Draconthrope can assume a draconic form that is a mix of its humanoid and dragon forms. A hybrid has hands and can use weapons, but it can also attack with its teeth and claws.

Size and Type
The creature’s type changes to Monstrous Humanoid with the Shapechanger subtype. In hybrid and Dragon forms it gains the Dragonblood subtype. The base creatures size does not change, however the Dragon alternate Form is One Size Larger than the Base Creature. Do not recalculate base attack bonus or saves.

Hit Dice
Increase base creature’s racial HD by one die size, to a maximum of d12. Do not increase class HD.

Speed
A Draconthrope in Dragon form has wings and can fly at twice its base land speed (maximum 120 ft.) with average maneuverability.

Armor Class
Natural armor improves by +4 in all forms.

Attack
A Draconthrope in Hybrid form has two claw attacks and a bite attack, and the claws are the primary natural weapon. If the base creature can use weapons, the Draconthrope retains this ability. A Draconthrope fighting without weapons uses a claw when making an attack action. When it has a weapon, it usually uses the weapon instead.

Full Attack
A Draconthrope in Hybrid form fighting without weapons uses both claws and its bite when making a full attack. If armed with a weapon, it usually uses the weapon as its primary attack and its bite as a natural secondary attack. If it has a hand free, it uses a claw as an additional natural secondary attack.

Damage
Draconthropes in Hybrid or Dragon forms have have bite and claw attacks equal to a creature of their size. If the base creature does not have these attack forms, use the damage values in the table below. Otherwise, use the values below or the base creature’s damage values, whichever are greater.

Size Bite Claw
Fine 1 —
Dimin. 1d2 1
Tiny 1d3 1d2
Small 1d4 1d3
Med. 1d6 1d4
Large 1d8 1d6
Huge 2d6 1d8
Garg. 3d6 2d6
Colos. 4d6 3d6

Special Attacks
A Dragonthrope retains all the special attacks of the base creature and in Dragon form gains a breath weapon based on the dragon variety (see table), usable once per day. A Dragonthrope’s breath weapon deals 6d8 points of damage. A successful Reflex save (DC 10 + ½ half-dragon’s racial HD + half-dragon’s Con modifier) reduces damage by half.

Black = 60-foot line of acid
Blue = 60-foot line of lightning
Green = 30-foot cone of corrosive (acid) gas
Red = 30-foot cone of fire
White = 30-foot cone of cold
Brass = 60-foot line of fire
Bronze = 60-foot line of lightning
Copper = 60-foot line of acid
Gold = 30-foot cone of fire
Silver = 30-foot cone of cold

Special Qualities
A Dragonthrope has all the special qualities of the base creature, and in Hybrid and Dragon forms they gain darkvision out to 60 feet and low-light vision. A Dragonthrope has immunity to sleep and paralysis effects in all forms.
In Hybrid and Dragon Forms they gain an additional immunity based on its dragon variety.

Energy Immunity
Black = Acid
Blue = Electricity
Green = Acid
Red = Fire
White = Cold
Brass = Fire
Bronze = Electricity
Copper = Acid
Gold = Fire
Silver = Cold

Alternate Form (Su)
A Dragonthrope can assume a form similar to a specific Dragon type. Changing to or from Dragon or Hybrid form is a standard action.A slain Dragonthrope reverts to its humanoid form, although it remains dead. Separated body parts retain their dragon form, however.

Damage Reduction (Ex)
A Dragonthrope in dragon or hybrid form has damage reduction 5/silver.

Abilities
Increase from the base creature as follows: Str +2, Int +2, Cha +2.
In Hybrid and Dragon forms Increase as follows: Str +4, Con +2

Skills
A Dragonthrope gains skill points as a Monstrous Humanoid and has skill points equal to (2 + Int modifier) × (HD + 3). Do not include Hit Dice from class levels in this calculation—the Dragonthrope gains Monstrous Humanoid skill points only for its racial Hit Dice, and gains the normal amount of skill points for its class levels. Treat skills from the base creature’s list as class skills, and other skills as cross-class.

Environment
Same as either the base creature or the dragon variety.

Alignment
Same as the dragon variety.

Level Adjustment
Same as base creature +4.

===============
Special Notes for Playing Draconthropes:

Draconthrope is a template USUALLY applied to humans, so most Draconthropes will have the human traits in Addition to the Draconthrope traits.

Draconthropes are NOT actually dragons, though in Hybrid and Dragon forms they have the Dragonblooded subtype, allowing them to meet the prerequisites for feats that require them to be Dragons or Dragonblooded. However when they revert to Humanoid form, they cease meeting the prerequisites for the feats, and the benefits are lost.

For example a Draconthrope in Hybrid form with the feat "Dragon Wings" from Races of the Dragon, would lose his wings when he changed back into Humanoid form.

Because you can use Supernatural abilities while in your Alternate Dragon form, many Draconthropes take class levels as Dragon Shaman or Dragonfire Adepts to gain the additional Draconic abilities.

After taking some time (ok, maybe an hour and a half, if that.) I decided to try and draw what the character I asked for would look like. Normaly she's wearing full-plate, so this is a rare point when the armor is off. Oh and unless I'm mistaken, a Wild full plate can accomodate her changing forms, even to large in full dragon form. Imagine what that'd look like!
Too bad armor is so dang hard to draw...
