Just wondering whether the Dragonlance minotaur is considered balanced for LA +0 ...

Medium-sized
+4 STR, -2 DEX, -2 INT, -2 CHA
+2 natural AC
Natural attack: horns
+2 to Intimidate, Swim, Use Rope
Can take Scent feat

Thanks,
Jonny

p.s. also, would it be weird to have both the DL minotaur and the regular MM minotaur in the same campaign world?

You could have the DL minotaurs view the MM minotaurs as a human would view an ogre or alternately as a hobgoblin would view a bugbear.
I'm quite sure a DL minotaur is LA +0 (as otherwise it would have to state what it is).

You could have the DL minotaurs view the MM minotaurs as a human would view an ogre or alternately as a hobgoblin would view a bugbear.Right. Sounds reasonable.

I'm quite sure a DL minotaur is LA +0 (as otherwise it would have to state what it is).Yes, technically it is. What I'm asking is whether it should be.

Thanks.

I am unsure as I never liked the dex loss, as I never saw minotaurs of the dragonlance setting slow. Then again in novels, everything is different. Also, didn't they get the powerful charge ability? if not, then maybe giving them one that deals +2d6 damage on a charge would be a good idea, since that is half of the large minotaurs charge attack.

The minotaurs in the MM can be the big elite soldiers of the army.

Also find this setting to be the best ever, although I would probably not run it due to the fact I don't think I could run a game of dragonlance right with all it's history, and so forth.

Its fine.

The ability score penalties make it only useful as a fighter or a divine caster, One of the points of natural armor is just offsetting the -1 ac from the dex penalty. So you end up with +1 Natural Armor and +4 Strength, along with the standard random assortment of racial bonuses.

Its slightly better than a MM Orc, and orcs arent exactly known for their uberness.

As for having both in the same campaigh setting, I'd just dub the DL ones as "lesser" minotaurs, as they're smaller and weaker physically. (Not that they'd ever consider themselves lesser)

Great. Thanks for the feedback.

I'm actually running a homebrew campaign, and I wanted to allow the DL minotaur because the MM minotaur's LA + racial hit dice is a killer. But I also didn't want to just ditch the latter because I'll be running the Red Hand of Doom soon and there's an MM minotaur in one of the encounters in that adventure - and I didn't want to bother trying to rewrite his stats.
