| Fenrir_Greyback03-15-08, 05:28 PM | Hey, are there any special rules when playing dragons? And is it just me, or does it seem that you should get triple gold since dragons get triple treasure? |
| Ace_of_time03-15-08, 05:37 PM | Yes. and No. |
| Fenrir_Greyback03-15-08, 05:45 PM | Yes. and No. Care to go into some detail? I mean I know LA and crap, but are there any really special mechnanics that apply just to this situation that I would need to know to play a dragon character? |

It has details on when to increase racial hit dice for aging dragons and lots of other complicated stuff. That, and it has some really nice dragon-only feats. |
| Ace_of_time03-15-08, 05:57 PM | It is basicly like playing a monster class only dragons have age cat where they increase size. You can't use the save DCs in the MM for their breaths and the like because it runs off HD and con mod and if you play one you will roll or buy stats aka they will be higher then normal dragons. Size mods are added in already to the age cat upgrades so you don't add those in when you increase a size. Also dragons are limited in HD by what age they are. So if a baby dragon has 6HD with a +3 LA then you need to gain 9 levels before gaining class level. In the dragon book at every so many years you take one more Dragon HD no matter what you want to show how the dragon ages. So you are 9th level and gain 10th and you decide to go fighter but don't turn 11th till after your 2 years old. You have to put that level on as a dragon HD. Then your free to level any way you till the next age comes up. You really need the dragon book to do it right. Plus you have to make a monster class for what ever dragon you plan to be. I'm preatty good at those but you would still need the book. |

Although the right kobold build can net the feats as well. |
