I wasn't quite sure where to ask this, but this seems as good a place as any.

If you're a race with immunities, such as Vampire with immunity to mind-affecting effects, can you voluntarily drop those immunities?

I don't think so. It's an intrinsic part of who you are, it'd be like a Fire Elemental suddenly not being immune to fire.

Well, I ask specifically because the way it's written, it seems that a willing vampire can't be Mindlinked with, and that seems weird.

That is because undead and constructs, when they are sentient, think in a manner entirely separate from that of living beings. They do not even have brains, in most cases - there is simply no way that thought operates in a fashion that is identical or even related to the way it operates in a living creature.

What you could do is design a template/PrC that justifies the loss of an immunity, similar to the Reforged/Warforged Juggernaut PrCs, which take a Warforged character from Living Construct to near-humanoid/Construct, respectively. However, in this case, that would be a bit difficult to justify - does the undead creature regrow its brain, or start using someone else's? Does it cease being Undead entirely, becoming something else, or does it gain the Augmented subtype?

Vampires are immune to mind-affecting effects because they are of the undead type. A vampire cannot forego immunity to mind-affecting effects any more than they could forego their immunity to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, stunning, disease, and death effects.
