I am thinking of making a half-dragon drow charecter.

But I am wondering how practical it is, as I want to make her a dread necromancer, which means there will be problems when she becomes a lich.

Would the lich template cause problems with the half dragon aspect of the charecter?

I don't think so, the breath weapon would become based off Cha. Nice idea, try half-deep dragon. Also: do you actually plan to hit level 20 in the game?

Nope. A lich retains all special attacks/abilities/etc. of the base creature, and once you lose your Con score the breath DC switches to Cha (IIRC); in fact, Vol from the Eberron CS is a half-dragon lich. You are aware that your character will not become a lich from Dread Necromancer until level 25, right?

The lich template can only be applyed to a humanoid (at least the ordinary lich template).
But the Dread Necromancer gives you a alternate way of becoming similar to a lich (but not like the old fashion lich), thus no worries.

Half shadow dragon is better. As per the Dragon of faerun web enhancement, drow with the half-shadow dragon template get wings as a special exception to the rules.:)

Are shadow dragons available outside faerun? Also have you got the link to the web enhancement?

As lord_xarallon said, you technically wouldn't be eligible for the lich template. However, you know what you would be eligible for? The dracolich template :D

Don't see why not. I think they were at least mentioned in the Draconomicon, but if not it should be no harder than importing, say, the Sand Dragon from the Big D Book. What was the LA of drow half-shadow dragons, btw, LA +5?

If you want the lich template, then you have troubles.
But you gain an alternate lich templete through Dread Necromancer.
Maybe you can work with your DM to alter the DN to gain the Dracolich template instead.

Just making sure, arnt dracolich templates much harder then liches and even the dry lich?

So I am guessing the level to achieve such a template would have to be higher?

Also one thing I found when looking at the web enhancement, was that there are two types of shadow dragon drow.

The straight first generation half dragon drow, and the shadow draconic drow.

Now that I have seen there is a second one to choose. Which one would be more usefull for dread necromancers?

I guess the half dragon would solve some of the dreads weaknesses. But the draconic drow has some nice abilities to. Anyone got any ideas?
