| Bob Loblaw02-25-07, 09:02 PM | I was thinking of playing some sort of incarnum character and I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how the dvati (from Dragon Compendium) works with this. It seems like this may be a way for me to get around the magic item problem of having to share gear. I was thinking that they would only have one pool of essentia that must be split between them, just like spells. Is there anything I may be missing or things I may want to watch out for? |

Its obvious that Dragon magazine is pretty ignored around these parts. your lucky though. i know what they are and have dm'ed the crap out of them. i also wrote a post about Dvati and all the published classes. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?p=11181006#post11181006 As for your question, i adress it in that link but ill repost it here. Dvati share a SOUL so they also SHARE ESSENTIA. However, its like your character has 2x as many chakras of each type. You can use essentia to bind a soulmeld to either dvati... but your always using the same essentia pool. However a good tactic is to take advantage of having twice as many chakras. See you as a character have one soul and only so much essentia. However, since you have two bodies, you have 2x as many chakras. you can bind 2 soulmelds to the heart chakra, one on each body. Or one to each throat chakra. Or just one soulmeld to one throat chakra, and wear a magic item on the other character. got it? |

Id think that they could pass off a soulmeld to another twin with an unoccupied chakra using their magic conductor type ability.... however since bonuses from the same sort of source dont stack, i would assume that you cant get twice as many soulmelds from the normal essentia. i mean your making the soulmelds from the essentia, so how are you gonna double the product without doubling the material put into it. also, as with spells, both dvati should have to spend the actions to meldshape. |

And what about the planar ward, would that protect both bodies of possesion and the like... I wonder... cheers |

I would say they both share the benefit of the single soul chakra but not of any of the others. However they should be able to pass soulmelds in the same manor they can pass a spell |

It should be a little more cut and dried, like spells. |
| Bob Loblaw02-27-07, 10:05 AM | Thanks for all the work you've done on this. I read the other thread you linked to and I hadn't thought about everything you came up with. This race seems cool, but potentially difficult to implement. I'm going to compile all the rule interpretations you've come up with and send them to my DM to see what he thinks. Keep the ideas coming. I won't have time to actually come up with any solid questions until Thursday or Friday when I get the time to focus on character creation. |
