Here are a few questions: The Dvati race from Dragon Compendium states spellcasting rules for the twins, but left out ToB Strike and MoI Soulmelds. The question is: A 20th level Dvati Warblade has Dual Stance, four stances, and two bodies. Looking at the fluff, it would appear that such a character can be in 4 stances at once, and receive the benefit from all of them. Is this a correct interpretation? Also, Soulmelds occupy magic item slots when bound. But a Dvati has 20 such slots. Does this mean that they can benefit from magic items and Chakra binds without a feat? What about in Gestalt games, where yo are a Dvati Incarnate/Totemist? And, finally: What about a Dvati with the feat Trickery Devotion? How many duplicates are created, since the twins are the same character? One, or two? |

We know that they are non-existent because they are incompatible with 90% of the rest of the D&D rules, and Wizards would never publish any rules that contradicted on another. |

I need an actual answer, not a knee-jerk response. |

| Tordak02-15-08, 03:55 PM | Ok, I'll try to help. I think the correct way is that they split the amount of manouvers much like spells, and same goes for soulmeld (they split the available essentia pool, creates half the available soul meld for a day, etc). They are, however, different individuals when it comes to body slots and effects, so both could use a different souldmeld for their arm, for example, and each could use a different manouver (they would get through their readied manouvers pool more quickly). For your stance question, they should each have 2 stances, different one probably but nothing prevents them to have the same stance (it would be DM's ruling), and would both benefit from their own 2 stances, not the ones from their twin. The person who's using the stance gets the benefit, not others (unless it's a special stance, like martial stance). Think of the stance as , well, a stance, so a way to position yourself : no matter the link between the 2, unless they are somehow force to move the same way (which I don't think they do), they get to 'stand' which ever way they want. I don't think Dvati are like the GIJOE twins. |

I would say that Tordak did a good job of interpretting the maneuvers and everything though. What I have a question about is this. In general, do the twins act as two separate entities, like both can take full attacks all their own, or one could use a maneuver and the other could full attack? Just trying to figure out how to actually play them |
| Tordak02-15-08, 10:20 PM | They're complicated. What they share is mostly about mind. They can act as they wish, but taking full attack action for example, but when one cast a spell the other cannot take any other action (even a free one) or it disrupt the casting of the spell. The only real issue is the casting of spell. So that's where it seems touchy for maneuvers, because manouvers work sort of like spell, but are physical attacks too. |
| ZiggZagg02-15-08, 10:25 PM | Here is an interesting question. Would it be broken to make a gestalt Dvati and have each twin represent a different half? |
