This might be more a question for the DM forum, but here seemed as good a place as any.

I'm building up a town and I want one of the bartenders to be a retired adventurer, nothing too uncommon, but that he's a dwarf. I'm envisioning him sort of as a middle aged character in the way he'd be portrayed.

The problem is the only other surviving member of his old party is a halfling (rather has to be as she's a cleric of Yondalla and rather a significant town figure). The lifespan of halflings is much shorter than that of dwarves.

Is there a way to make this work where they both would have been of around adventuring age at the same time and yet, both still be alive today? Or should I just scoff it and make the dwarf a little younger?

Might I suggest you just say that the dwarf started adventuring with the haflings when the halflings were young, and the dwarf was early middle-aged? Now the haflings are getting on, and the dwarf is solidly in his middle years?
