What about the unholy union of Dwarf and Orc? This creature would be outcast from both cultures... a hideous brute that lives underground.

About as tall as a human, but stout and strong.

Abilities:
+2 Str
+2 Con
-2 Int
-4 Cha
Darkvision 60'
+2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison. Dworcs are hardy and resistant to toxins.

That's all?

What about dwarf and orc blood: items that work for dwarves work for them, and items that work for orcs work for them.

They need a favored class. Probably barbarian.

Give them the dwarf's ability to move at full speed even while in heavy armor or burdened.

Dworc sounds like Dork. I guess it could be done...

you know this is a LA+1 race don't you ? (yust like the hobgoblin, its a little bit better then the half-orc: still charisma dumpstat, better warrior)
-> so i would give it all abilities of the dwarf, and some more abilities of the orc

btw why are your stats a combi of half-orc + dwarf instead of orc+dwarf? perhaps that would make it more balanced (though i don't have the MM here so i can't say for sure).

i'dd say

+2 Str, +2 Con, -2 Int, -2 Wis, -4 Cha
Darkvision 60'
+2 racial bonus on saving throws against poison.

makes it balanced.

Why would the Cha penalty be -4. Both orcs and dwarves have -2. The average of -2 and -2 is -2. It's not like one of the races is a template that modifies the base race with -2 Cha.

I think I'd propose something like +2 Str, +2 Con, - 2 Cha if you wanted a LA +1 race, and maybe something like +2 Str, +2 Con, -2 Int, -2 Wis, -2 Cha for a LA +0 race.

You said its a hideous outcast that lives underground. consider adding in light sensitivity and a bonus to hide and move silently as it has to avoid notice of the dwarves.

Seems kinda weak, but then again I guess not so much compared to the regular half-orc. For a "Dworc" of this type I'd say the stats would be

+2 strength, -2 dexterity, +2 constituion, -2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma. This would succeed in setting it apart from the half-orc to some extent.

It's Blashemy! It's MADNESS!

I think that's why, actually. That and boredom.

I've made a elf/orc, dwarf/elf, and dwarf/orc, as well as a human/dwarf.

Another user on these forums named Wharin has made the first three as well.

Wasn't a Human/dwarf called a Mule in Darksun (AD&D)?

Halfling/ogre = human:D

Actually its "Mul", but close enough.

And in Forgotten Realms its called a Derro. And in Greyhawk (though maybe its FR as well) its called "just a slightly bit taller Dwarf"

I once created an NPC who was a half-kobold gnome. He wasn't a very pretty fellow, but good with the stabbity.

Actually, it makes more sense to be a combination of dwarf and half-orc, because when you look at it, it still is a half-orc, but also half-dwarf.

^ I don't follow your logic. At all.

Sorry, I typed that absolutely horribly.

A half-orc is the offspring of a human and an orc. One of these Dworcs is the offspring of a dwarf and an orc. It makes sense in this case to combine dwarf and half-orc racial traits.

I have a Dworc race statted in my signature. It's pretty close to your model.

Well yess and no. Obviously a dworc should have at least some of the characteristics of both a dwarf and a (half) orc. But there a few things you gotta keep in mind when you feel the need to make hybrid races.

-Balance. Just simply putting *all* the abilities of both races would not be balanced for a LA +0 race. There's simply too much.

-Being sure to not just take half of each races' stats/bonus and slap them to gether. You end up with a completely mediocre race with sometimes confusing bonus interactions

-Don't be afraid of thinking up new abilities that make sense for said combined race. That way the race has something unique about it to make it its own.

Dwarf + Orc.. hmm........

Dour yet uncouth. Sturdy and muscular. Beer. Violence. And absolutely uncultured.
Seems like every fratboy I've met in my 5 years of college.

Throw in sports cars their parents bought them, random promiscuity, rage control issues, complete inability to regulate alchohol intake, and you're all set!
