I'm looking for anti-elf propaganda to spread throughout the Kingdom. I figured there were enough elf haters here that I'd be able to get some good ideas. In particular, some good derogatory terms (ie. "Pointy eared freaks") would be much appreciated.

A little background info if you're interested:
- Low % of elves in this human kingdom.
- Elves are fairly reclusive, living almost exclusively in their forest homes.
- The human kingdom has been a trade partner of the elves for years.
- The human king is planning on attacking the elves, but wants to get the public on their side first.
- The human king has an illusionist who can help make scenes of elven attacks, etc...

Also the elves in my world are fairly stereotypical, but not particularly well define in my campaign. In fact outside of the PCs there's only been one or two elves that have shown up at all.

Elves are hedonistic with questionable moral fabric, chaotic and against the establishment of human authority. rumors of elves using breeding programs to start making half elves, and then integrating the half elves into their community to breed out the humanity, so to speak.

I am used to play (an elf) with elf haters all the time, let me help you with some of the anti elf probaganda that my fellow players have made up.

- Folklore in certain countries dictate that forcing one self upon an elven virgin will bring you seven years of good luck. This misinformation works best if elves has little or no legal rights to defend themselves against human attacks (which they of course will, causing humans to hate them for it).

- Elves use fake gold coins, but poison them so that anyone try to bite them to determine the golds quality will die. Spreading this miinformation in an area will basically cut elves off from any trading.

- Elves enjoy to make humans suffer, and often curses innocent humans with his/her evil elven magic, but killing the elf who cursed you sets you free of said curse. Often this misinformation dictates that the elf must be killed in a specific and gruesome way in order to set you free.

- The elves has a cure for a terrible disease that is ravaging the human lands, but they refuse to share it. Luckily the great human king wont tolerate the elves cruel selfishness, and has sent an army to retrieve the cure by force.

There was also a lot of less decent anti elf probaganda in the early campaigns I played, but they are not suited for these boards. Have fun killing pointy ears.

I so would not use the Muslim or Mexican immigration idea. You're not talking about a people who are trying to better their lives, or people who are being singled out becouse of their religion.
From what you've told us it sounds more like what happened in the USA when the government choose the policy of pushing the Native Americas further West.
Here you have the elves (most likely have lived in the area long before the humans settled it) in the vast minority, a king who is going to attack the elves, probably for their land or resources. :twocents:

Also I am part Native America. Distant part.

Some ideas

1. "Elves will mate with anything! just look at how many types of elves are out there!"
2. "Im so tired of learning a new elven culture. Go into a forest we meet some wood elves. climb a mountain and we find some sun elves, then we walk a mile and run into moon elves. we cross the ocean and meet aquatic elves. on the new land we meet gray elves. we go underground we meet Drow elves. We cross a desert and meet painted elves. We go to the artic and we meet snow and artic elfs. we finaly think we have gotten away at a tavern when one of the servers has slightly pointed ears, Half-elf. I.. just... want .. them.. to go... away!"
3. "There are Half elves that hate elves and humans so much that they learn specificly how to kill them... suddenly i wish i was a half-elf" (prestege class called scar enforcer in Races of destiny"
4. "I met this elf... names... somthing with a m, names not important. i get to know him for over five years to learn that is was a woman!"
5. "They are wholey violent. Every single one of them can pick up a bow or sword! what kind of race trains eveyone to kill!"
6. "They dont sleep, which means they have more time to plot and sneak into our houses when we are in bed."
7. "Magic itself is afraid of them!"
8. "Once this elven theif and a kindly human merchant where sitting down, haggaling over some prices. the elf offered some of his drink that he was keeping in a bottle, but the merchant was suspisious. the elf then gulped down some to show it was harmless. the weary merchant was thirsty and accepted the drink. However it was a potion of charm. the rogue then gathered up all of the merchants livlyhood and made him do things ... horrible things" *shudders*
9. "Elves are always tending to thehir gardens, which are stocked with posions!"
10. "Elves can hear things a mile away with those ears... even thoughts!"

why not point out some great tragedys and up the involvement of Elfs (eg if a mixed human/elf group burned unnamedtownshire to the ground becomes an elf group burned unnamedtownshire to the ground)

The variant on this which I like the most came from the old CRPG "Betrayal at Krondor", where a crusty old magician referred to them (or at least one subrace of them) as "pointy-eared lily-munchers".

"Elves steal babies, leaving 'changlings' in thier place who take years longer to grow up."

"Elves are arrogant and secretly dispise humans, regarding them as disposeable playthings because of thier 'short' lifespans.'

"All elves are wizards. If you find yourself warming up to an elf, he's probably charmed you."

"Elves are pathological liars. They'll always try to cheat you or lead you astray."

Have King Bob spout rheortic about imaginary slighs and atrocities the Elves have commited against the Great Kingdom.

For instance, King Bob deliver's a weekly speech outside his palace for the masses to listen to. Bob begins his speech recounting how, just yesterday, in the pitch of night, a cadre of Elf assassins slit the throats of every single good and honest soldier's in Fort Goodheart, then used their devil-sorcerery to destroy the fort and even salted the earth. The masses of course fly into a rage at the lies and demand retribution. King Bob smiles and knows that he will have his war.

The truth is that King Bob's elite guard massacured his own soldier's, and used gunpowder to sunder the fortress. Then laid out a few Elven style weapons, and possibly and Elf corpse or two, and made his rousing speech.

Perhaps Fort Goodheart was chosen because General Greg opposed any hasty action against the Elves. Station away from the capitol was a good way for King Bob to begin cementing his actions, and the assassination of General Greg by the very race he tried to protect would only seal the deal in the people's minds.

Elves aren't 'innately magical,' they sustain their unnaturally long lives by sucking up the magic innate to the world and all living things, hoarding it, fearful of ever dying and going to the dark fate that they so richly deserve!

The reason that humanity has grown stronger over the last centuries is *because* the elves have been dying off, releasing their stolen magic back into the world, making it available to all of the other races, such as men and dwarves and gnomes and halflings, some of whom, according to Sage Spiffy, until recently *couldn't even use magic,* being denied the source of power freely given by the gods to all the living races by those grasping desperate elves, vainly trying to prolong their own jaded pathetic lives far beyond any natural or decent span!

Every Elf that dies is a blow for freedom and justice and equality! They have been stealing the god's gift of magic from us for centuries, and it's time we took it back! They hide it in their blood, and by spilling that blood, we shall free it, and so reclaim the birthright that they stole from us!

I'd say that probably the easiest thing for the human king to do would be to have some people wear fake ears and start robbing stores and basically performing terrorist acts against the nation. After that, the king could start blaming all of the kingdom's problems on elves.

In Terry Pratchett's Discworld novels elves are extradimensional inhuman monsters.

Elves on the Discworld are based more on the nastier kind of fairy-folk in British and European folklore than elves as portrayed in most modern (post-Tolkien) fantasy fiction.

They are not native to the Disc, but come from a "parasite universe", sometimes called Fairyland. This pocket dimension can latch onto different universes at certain times, allowing the elves (and other fae creatures such as unicorns, Jenny Greenteeth and, before they were cast out, the Nac Mac Feegle) to go hunting.

One of the things they hunt is people. Elves have no imagination or real emotions, and therefore such things fascinate them. Because they cannot create they steal musicians and artists. Because they cannot have children they steal children from the Disc to be their toys. Because they cannot feel empathy they enjoy the suffering of others. Even if an elf is, for reasons of its own, trying to be nice, its lack of understanding of humans mean there's always something "off" about it.

Mostly they get away with this, due to the illusion-creating glamour they cast. While elves are, as mentioned above, not musical, elfsong is perceived as beautiful by humans, and is highly hypnotic. Elves are generally seen as innately beautiful and stylish, but this is just another aspect of the glamour. Some of them are only vaguely humanoid.

The glamour does not seem to have as much effect on trolls and dwarfs, partly because they lack the romantic imagination to let it work and partly because of their connection to iron.

Elves have copper-based, blue-green blood, and are extremely vulnerable to iron. This is partly because there is no way of magicking iron, and partly that they have the ability to detect magnetic fields, and use them to navigate (as pigeons are thought to do) and even sense the thoughts of others from short distances. The presence of iron disrupts this and sends them into a panic. The main gateway to the world of Elves in Lancre is surrounded by several large boulders of naturally magnetised meteoric iron. When there is no iron around they have the absolute confidence of beings who know exactly where they are.

Rational thought and the absence of superstition, which makes the glamour harder, is referred to by Nanny Ogg as "iron in the head".

Elves are ruled by a King and Queen. They act much the same as the King and Queen in chess, the Queen is the most obvious ruler, organising the raiding parties and maintaining absolute control of her kingdom. The King (who bears some similarity to Cernunnos or Herne) tends not to get involved if he can avoid it and keeps to himself in a different aspect of Fairyland (possibly the Discworld version of Annwn). The King and Queen may once have ruled together, but it has been implied there was an acrimonious split, which brings to mind the rift between the fairy courts of Oberon and Titania in A Midsummer Night's Dream.

If it comes to that, there may not only be one King and Queen. However, due to the elves' lack of imagination and creativity any Kings and Queens of the Elves tend to be similar.

Elven invasions of the Discworld are recorded in Lords and Ladies and The Wee Free Men. The Science of Discworld II: The Globe involves an attempted invasion of Roundworld (a version of our world).Hope that helps!

Using their own religion, mythical origins and social structure against them (paraphrased, of course!):

The head of the Elvish pantheon took the forest for himself, and thus started the war between the races. It's because of Corelleon's callous disregard for other beings and outright greed that Orcs rape Human women, and Goblins torch the fields. As Elves are made from Corelleon's shed blood, they are inherently tainted by this greed and cruelty and must be purged before they taint the Human race with their half-spawn children.

Every Elf is trained from birth to use swords and bows, not for self defence, but for killing honest loggers trying to feed their families. Elves make hundreds upon thousands of arrows and bows from the trees, yet try every manner of deed to stop Humans cutting down a single tree!

The so-called 'War' between the surface Elves and the Dark Elves is a sham! Dark Elves are actually the rulers of the surface Elves, and are using the notion that the surface elves are allies of the other surface races to slowly infiltrate the kingdom to the point where the Dark Elves may attack from below, confident enough assassins and mages on the surface can cripple the King's army from within.

Elves do not honour the concept of marriage! They'll take a lover for fifty years, wander off and do whatever they please, even stealing the virtue of honest, chaste maidens with their slippery words and foul sorcery, before casually wandering back to their Elven lovers and spawning another foul generation.

Elves live so long because they perform dark rituals in the forest, involving the souls of their so-called 'allies', the strongest of them becoming horse-men (centaurs) and moving trees (treants) and their queens become white devil-horses! They even have horns that can gouge even the most holy knight! (Unicorns attacking the King's evil elite soldiers with their horns)

Can't think of any more....running out of Elf-Hate.....

No.....wait....just running out of the words to describe how much I hate Elves...

4. "I met this elf... names... somthing with a m, names not important. i get to know him for over five years to learn that is was a woman!"

"Elves do not work, they pass the day singing and dancing!"

"Elves are good archers, but have no stomach for a fair fight!"

"Elves are so arrogant, they think every word as an elven root, even dwarven words!"

Also add this false rumor, about an elven princess who burned a whole town. She gave a couple of dove to each inhabitant, simply asking that they gave her the offsprings. Since dove always fly back to their birth place, she tied a burning paper to the legs of each dove which she then released to fly back to their homes. Each avian incendiary set fire to the thatched roof of their respective home and the town was destroyed. (This is rumored to have been done by Olga of Kiev (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olga_of_Kiev))

This works in areas that have at least a smattering of spell casters about (so magic isn't "rare").

"Magic is in all things - it ebbs and flows like the wind. It is in each pebble on the beach and in all of us." (Teller grabs a small rock) "Some are special - able to feel the magic and access it to bring it alive and cast spells. Elves are specially capable of doing this. They are much more able to access the magic about them." He hefts the rock, studying it closely... "Like this rock..." and tosses it to the next guy...
"But I don't feel any magic in this!"
"Nope. Nor will you. The elves have sucked the magic out of it! There are so very few things that are innately magical any more - just because of them! Now we have to protect the alchemical substances and the like - or the dirty, magic-stealing elves will take that as well! Look at that person there!! Can you feel the magic in him? No!! See, we ALL used to be magical - but the danged, vampiric elves have siphoned it all off to protect their infernal secret cities!" (The tirade continues...)
________________________________

Fullhazard really does have a good idea about the blood magic thing. Things that are eternal ARE abnormal... so how DO they live so long?? It HAS to be the blood of human babies!! (Sure, to US it sounds stupid, but the same thing has been said of nearly every race on Earth at one time to explain away the difference from *us* (and the 'us' was different each time as well!))

And that GREAT Youtube video about elves versus dwarves was great for one thing... elven cancer!! What causes cancer?? Midaeval folks wouldn't know... so it MUST have been the elves!! "Elven cancer" indeed!!!
