| Barloch11-13-07, 11:44 PM | Thats entirely too many elves for my comfort, and we still have just one sub-race of humans the most "diverse" race, huh. |
| Quenditar11-14-07, 12:20 AM | High elves, Aereni elves, Valenar elves, Khorvaire elves, and Qualinesti elves (I need to check the book on Silvanesti) have identical stats, and Moon elves are identical except for height and coloration. They're no more diverse than Rhinnee, Thayans, and Karrns. So not all of them are subraces. Just most of them. |
| CrimsonDeath11-14-07, 12:43 AM | There are quite a few Elven subraces from Magic: The Gathering. Fyndhorn, Quirion, and Llanowar from Dominaria. Skyshroud from Rath (although they moved to Dominaria recently). The planes of Lorwyn, Ravnica, Mirrodin have their native Elf populations. Browsing through Gatherer, I noticed that The Dark had the Savaen Elves, although I'm not sure if that's supposed to be a region, a race, a city, a cult, or what. Also, in case it matters, I've come to think of Santa's Helpers as being more akin Gnomes or even Brownies than Elves. I think it's likely that they became known as "elves" simply because they were considered to be some sort of Fey, while Tolkeinesque Elves are more similar to the Nordic concept of Elves. |
