I seem to remember there being more elves than I can find in the players handbook. what are the full spectrum of elven ability scores for starting out. Drow and high or grey elves i seem to remember had some interesting stats but i can't remember where to find it.

Monster Manual I under the Elves:
From the 'generic' setting that would be;

high, dark (drow), grey, wood (sylvan), wild and aquatic elves.

Many settings have their own sub-species. Don't know if you meant that/want to get into that

All LA +0 Elves are found in the Master Player Race List:

Or in the SRD, found in my sig, under the variant races and the monsters. A couple are not.

Err, most specific Elf subraces aren't, actually. The UA variant subraces were much more general "aquatic X" and "fire X" subraces.

They've got the elemental and envirornment, as well as the monster manual ones. There are ten that are not in the SRD.

There are ten listed in the Master list. Those are only the +0 LA list. Most significantly, it doesn't include Avariel, Lythari, or Ghost Elves (Dragon #313). Oh, and there's a bunch more.

And at any rate, there's more than "a couple" left off the SRD. The SRD only has 9 LA+0 elf subraces: High, Wood, Wild, Grey, Aquatic, Arctic, Fire, Jungle, and desert Desert. Admittedly, it's more like 55%, if you include the half-elf subraces.

~Half != a couple.
