Elven Blood [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-23-07, 07:33 AM This may have been asked before, but I have not seen it. It says in the players handbook that half-elves have "elven blood" and "are considered elves for all things race-specific". Now, does that mean that half-elves trance instead of sleep and only require 4 hours of trance?

04-23-07, 08:35 AM No. It means that they can use elf-specific magic items and such, not that they get all of the elf racial abilities added to their own.

04-23-07, 02:16 PM There are a few magic items that can only be used by elves. It may come up more often that some items can only be crafted by elves, like the boots and cloak of elvenkind. There may be some spells or something that are only useful against elves or something, but that is the point of elven blood.

Half-elves need 8 hours of sleep, as a human.

i my self was wondering about this can other races get elf\dwarf\orc blood for example what if my charichter was like only 1/16th elf but mosly human :confused:

04-23-07, 04:46 PM Then he's basically a human as described in the PHB. You probably wouldn't be able to tell that he was elven AT ALL.

As a houserule, I give half-orcs and half-elves "human blood" too.

04-25-07, 02:37 PM Its biggest benefit is allowing Half-elves to qualify for Elf only PrCs.

I do the same... Half-elves have "Elf Blood" and "Human Blood" and Half-Orcs have "Orc Blood" and "Human Blood".

04-25-07, 02:42 PM I'm quite sure it was originally meant that way, but only forgotten when the PHB was written. I never thougt about it for a very long time, before realizing that human-bane weapons should affect half-orcs, too.
