I am in contention with a DM about my cousins (he's 12) character which was given the go ahead by the DM, but not apparently what was expected, and now he is making a stink about it.

My nephews character is a Lythari in a FR campaign and created as I interpreted the rules, as an elf with a modified werewolf template. The DM is insisting that the Lythari is a specific subrace of elf without the template and requires the changes he remembers due to his storyline based on what he presumed the character to be.

Can anyone confirm or deny the existence of said subrace as he believes it to be?

Thanks in advance...

Lythari were officially presented in Monsters of Faerun (now hard to find because it's one of the first 3.0E books released). They were also mentioned in Races of Faerun.

Officially, they are wood elves with the werewolf template, differing only in alignment (CG) and the fact that they lack a hybrid form.

Races of Faerun seems to give them a hybrid form.

EDIT: And thanks, you two. I just found my favourite elven subrace.

Given that both books were printed before 3.5E came out, you should note that the lycanthropic template has changed significantly since then.

Races of Faerun was printed during the transition, and the lycanthrope template presented there is the same one that was printed in the 3.5E MM.

I am confused. People keep refering to the possible hybrid form of Lythari but I cannot find any references in either the Monsters of Faerun (Which has an Update) or Races of Faerun. Could someone point this out to me?

Basically, it boils down to Races of Faerun NOT saying they lack a hybrid form. The book seems to simply treat them as CG-aligned natural werewolves.
