| Lord_Gix03-23-08, 04:24 PM | Decided that I wanted to distinguish a couple of the races a bit more... Once again, if you could give me some input as to whether you think these would be balanced at LA +0. Note that the languages are just place holders Abydians (desertfolk) -- Medium Humanoid -- An Abydian's base land speed is 30 ft -- +2 Dexterity, -2 Charisma -- +2 Racial Bonus on Survive, Heal, and Ride -- Weapon Proficiency: Abydians receive the Martial Weapon Proficiency feats for the shortspear, longspear, rapier, and shortbow (including composite shortbow) -- Abydians are Immune to natural poisons (including scorpion, snake, and spider poison, but not ones that are altered or made) -- Heat Endurance: Abydians gain Heat Endurance as a bonus feat. As a result of growing up in the desert, Abydians can exist comfortably in temperatures up to 120F without having to make Fortitude saves. Abydians gain a +2 bonus on saving throws against fire effects. Their protection against heat is level 1. -- +2 racial bonus on Constitution checks or Fortitude saves to resist harmful effects from heat and dehydration. -- Automatic Languages - Common and Abydian. Bonus Languages - any (other than secret languages) -- Favored Class - Ranger Note: Rangers in this campaign setting are moreso general hunters than being strictly tied to the forest. Using the alternate, no magic build, and giving players the options from the Sandstorm book. Falerans (cityfolk) -- Medium Humanoid -- A Faleran's base land speed is 30 ft -- +2 Charisma, -2 Intelligence -- +2 racial bonus on Diplomacy and Gather Information checks -- Urban Tracking: Falerans gain Urban Tracking as a bonus feat. Falerans can track down the location of missing persons or wanted individuals within communities. To find an individual's trail, or to follow a trail for 1 hour, requires a Gather Information check. They must make another Gather Information check every hour they search, as well as each time the trail becomes more difficult to follow, such as when it takes them to a different part of town. The DC of the check, and the number of checks required to track down their quarry, depends on the community size and the prevailing conditions. If they fail a check, they can retry after 1 hour of questioning. They can cut the time between Gather Information checks in half (from 1 hour to 30 minutes), but they take a -5 penalty on the check. Obviously, this feat will not allow them to locate someone who has gone beyond the boundaries of the community, but it could inform them that they've done so. (page 64, Cityscape) -- Weapon Proficiency: Falerans receive the Weapon Proficiency feats for the longsword, short sword, heavy crossbow. -- Automatic Languages - Common and Faleran. Bonus Languages - any (other than secret languages) -- Favored Class - Cleric (female) and Favored Soul (male) Mountainfolk (not yet named) -- Medium Humanoid -- A Faleran's base land speed is 30 ft -- +2 Constitution, -2 Dexterity -- Mountain Movement: Because Mountainfolk practically live on the ledges and cliffs of the most forbidding mountains, they are particularly adept at negotiating mountain hazards. Mountainfolk can make standing long jumps and high jumps as if they were running long jumps and jumps. A Mountainfolk can engage in accelerated climbing (climbing half his speed as a move action) without taking the -5 penalty on the Climb check. -- Earth Sense: If a Mountainfolk has constitution and wisdom scored equal to 13 or higher they get Earth Sense as a bonus feat. As long as they are touching the ground they can take a move action to sense the number of creatures within 20 feet that are also touching the ground and the direction to each one. They cannot pinpoint the location of any creature with this feat. -- Lesser Stone Cunning: This ability grants a mountainfolk a +2 racial bonus on Search checks to notice unusual stonework, such as sliding walls, new construction (even when built to match the old), unsafe stone surfaces, shaky stone ceilings, and the like. Something that isn't stone but is disguised as stone also counts as unusual stonework. A mountainfolk who merely comes within 10 feet of unusual stonework can make a Search check as if he were actively searching, and a mountainfolk can use the Search skill to find stonework traps as a rogue can. -- +2 racial bonus on Appraise checks that are related to stone or metal items -- +2 racial bonus on Craft checks that are related to stone or metal -- Automatic Languages - Common and Mountainfolk. Bonus Languages - Faleran, Abydian -- Favored Class - Knight |
