| Imsolost04-27-07, 01:55 AM | I like the Fey'ri, I just want to give them a slightly more demonic nature. Would these changes be balanced? They would have all the same abilities as a normal Fey'ri except as follows: Lose 4 abilities chosen from the list of abilities a Fey'ri can take. Gain the Evil subtype. Good Vulnerability: A Fey'ri takes 2 extra damage from good aligned weapons, 1 extra damage per die from spells with the good descriptor, and suffers a -2 penalty to saving throws against spells with the good descriptor. Gain a 1d6 Eldritch Blast at will just like the warlock ability with the same name. This ability stacks with other sources of eldritch blast you may have. Learn 1 Least invocation of choice from the list of warlock invocations. You use invocations in the same way that a warlock does. Gain fire resistance 5 Favored Class changes to warlock. |
| Naderion04-27-07, 07:27 AM | The 1d6 of Eldritch blast soon becomes completely useless, if the character isn't a warlock himself. Even the most basic spells make more damage and even a shortbow is superior to it. |

Even the most basic spells make more damage and even a shortbow is superior to it. Not really, a rogue Fey'ri would get great use from it, look mom range Sneak Attack without weapons! Plus I'm hitting a flat-footed target with a touch attack (for the purpose of sneak attack). Thou instead of eldritch blast, perhaps allow them their choice of invocation from the least list of the Warlock, at will like normal and all that. |
| Imsolost04-27-07, 09:57 PM | One of the abilities I gave this variant was the choice of a least invocation from the warlock list at will. What I am really wondering is however, would these changes be balanced? Would trading in charm person 1/day, suggestion 1/day, darkness 1/day and fire resistance 10 (just one example of abilities chosen from the list of possible fey'ri abilities), be worth an invocation at will and a 1d6 eldritch blast as well as greater weakness to good? |
| Jaime_Wolf04-27-07, 11:05 PM | I would say that, if anything, you made it worse. Least invocations can be a tiny bit useful early on and, as mentioned, 1d6 eldritch blast has its uses (limited though they may be). However, overall, they're not nearly as good as the spell-like abilities in my mind. |
| The_One_Who_Walks04-28-07, 09:37 AM | You could probably get away with scaling the eldritch blast a little bit, say, deals 1d6/3 or 4 levels, or some such; not as fast as a true warlock, but that way it stays genuinly useful, all the way up. If you do that, though, you might want to stipulate that levels you take in the warlock class do not count when determining your racial Eldrich Blast damage. That way they can still stack, but you're not gonna ahve a Fey'ri warlock with Eldrich blast 10d6 at 12th level. |
| Imsolost04-28-07, 03:20 PM | Thats a good idea, so 1d6 eldritch blast that increases by an additional 1d6 for every 4 levels you possess in a class that does not possess an eldrtich blast ability of its own. Maybe even give them a free lesser blast shape or essence invocation at 10th level, and a greater one at 20th. Hmm, now is it getting overpowered? |
| The_One_Who_Walks04-30-07, 02:21 PM | hmm... you might be... but probably not by very much, if you are. Also, you might let them choose a blast shape, or eldrich essence, just because there are so few blast shapes... |
