| posternutbag10-01-07, 12:46 PM | I had a couple of questions regarding Goblinoid PCs. Does anyone know what the starting ages for Goblinoid PCs are? What is the life cycle of a Goblin? Do goblins have hair? If so, what color? Do Goblin parents take any active interest in rasing their young? (This was mentioned in the Races of savagery thread, but I thought I might address it again) Thanks |

That means both; you dont have much to work with, and you have a lot of room to make up your own detail. Goblins in the books always seem to go from human flesh toned, to greens, and can have have of any color, or be hairless. Pretty much, what ever you want your goblin to look like is what he is. Good gaming. |

I always thought of goblins being able to range from 1'6" to 4' 6", with virtually any skin color, any type of hair from wavy to kinky to straight also in practically any color. Most goblins are small and skinny, but some are big and buff. In my campaign, I'm actually molding bugbears, hobgoblins, and goblins to my interpretations. I'm currently working on bugbears here on the forums, I can work on goblins next, if you would like. The stereotypical goblin, I believe is tiny, bald, green, with near-glowing yellow eyes, and a menacing grin. |

My best guess would be that the sarting ages for Goblins should be roughly like that of orcs. I would imagine that Goblins mature more quickly than humans, but also age more quickly as well. I see Goblins as fecund but not long lived. Starting age of 10 for Goblinoid PCs. Middle age would be 25. Old age 39, Venerable 52. Maximum +1d10. On the subject of hair. I never thought of Goblins as hairless, rather that both sexes would have dark, corse hair, leading them to favor short, spikey haircuts for males and females (rather angular and asymetric, easy to maintain with the dull knives at hand, no Goblin barber shears). I assume Goblins are into body modification, piercings, brandings, ritual scars, and crude tattoos. Most goblins raise themselves, or are raised by peer groups. Paternity is not a big deal for Goblins and, as such, fathers are rare to the point that fatherhood is an unknown concept within Goblin culture. Women raise children more or less communally, but Goblins form their strongest bonds with their peers. This is primarily a safety mechanism. After weening, Goblin mothers don't pay much attention to young, and so goblin children band together for protection. The concept of teenage years is foreign to Goblins. Goblins childhood (such as it is) is from about 1 year old to 8-10, at which time they have matured physically and are considered adults. |
