| Bannik07-20-07, 07:04 AM | hey here is a question firstly can you tell me of all the four or more armed races.....and can a four armed race hold weapons and still use magic, or hold shileds for that matter and do magic. even better can he do 2 spells at the same time? |
| runestar07-20-07, 07:52 AM | MM has the xill. XPH/MM2/Shining South has the thri-keen. Underdark has the chitine. Unless stated otherwise, they are still limited to 1 spell/round, since casting a spell is typically a standard action, which having more arms does not affect. |

| runestar07-20-07, 08:29 AM | You typically need only 1 hand free to cast a spell with somatic/material components. You are also allowed to hold a light shield or buckler in that hand (but not a heavy shield). Thus, you could wield 3 weapons in 3 of your hands, and a light shield/buckler in your 4th hand, and still use that 4th hand to complete the somatic spell components and manipulate the material components needed to cast said spell.:) Also note that there are no benefits to holding more than 1 shield, since shield bonuses do not stack. |
| obrysii07-20-07, 08:29 AM | You still get the arcane spellcasting failure chance. |
| foxtail07-20-07, 08:30 AM | For game balance reasons, it's usually one spell at a time, no matter how many arms the character has. If you really want to do two things at once, take a look at the "two-headed" template, from one of the Monster Manuals (I forget) However, the spell flower spell from the Spell Compendium allows a multi-armed character to hold the charges of multiple touch-range spells at the same time. You still have to cast them individually, though. |
| elondir07-20-07, 09:06 AM | There's a critter in MMII that has six arms and three mouths that can cast three spells at once, IIRC. |
| runestar07-20-07, 09:16 AM | The nagahydra (serpent kingdoms) can cast up to 7 spells/round. Spellweaver (MM2) can cast any number of spells each round, so long as the sum of their spell lvs do not exceed 6. What other monsters can cast multiple spells each round?:) |
| obrysii07-20-07, 01:57 PM | There are birds in the Fiend Folio that get two rounds worth of actions each round. |
| Cyphrus07-20-07, 04:11 PM | Hi there! If you're interested in a slightly more "humanoid" type race, you could always make use of my home brewed race, the Shokan! It's really nothing more than an attempt to stat out characters like Goro, Sheeva and Kintaro from Mortal Kombat. But anyhoo, if it helps, there you go: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=842267 |
| TiwazTyrsfist07-24-07, 12:37 PM | Also, if you don't mind going third party, there's a nice 4 armed race in Mythic Races (part of Fantasy Flight games Legends & Lairs line). |
| Sorcen_Anenooata07-24-07, 02:10 PM | In my sig theres a link to my multi-armed creatures list. http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=699458 |
| nighttree07-24-07, 07:46 PM | Obah Blessed template :D |
| Light_Colonel07-25-07, 03:17 PM | I seem to remember there being a feat in Savage Species called Multitasking which allows a multiarmed creature to take a standard action with each set of arms. I could be wrong though. |
