| 1 ton ghost08-09-07, 03:10 PM | ok, i'm a big fan to begin with given the ultimately huge benefits that outweigh the mechanical downsides, though in reality, you can't quantify your character's ennui, lack of humanity, or you know, a working love life, etc. you might actually have to RP that for a change... POINTS OF ORDER: -Libris Mortis kicks ass. on a related note, i thought they were/should do a book for each monster type. libris (undead), lords of madness (aberrations), plenty on dragons, why not one for constructs, monstrous humanoids, etc? i mean, it's a business to which they are excellent at screwing ppl out of their $ w/ alot of fluff/filler anyway... ...moving on... -given that Necropolitan is a plain vanilla undead template (long overdue i might add), it's simply negative energy in a once mortal vessel. is it safe to assume that Deathless (Eberron's polar opposite version via Positive Energy) be allowed/suitable for Forgotten Realms, Greyhawk, the rest? the way i see it, the rules/mechanics are completely the same, it's just getting there is different. -woud you Rebuke a deathless? can they even be Turned/Rebuked? -given they (necros) are, you know, decrepit, old, crusty; generally unpleasant looking and prone to drawing alot of ire, we concluded that Disguise Undead, many ranks in Disguise, and/or a Hat of Disguise would help out for the general populace, are there any other working solutions/ideas? this is especially useful if enemy cleric (Spot is not class skill btw) nails you w/ an Inflict in ignorance. this will probably work only once... -do you need flavor appropriate familiars: rat, bat, undead? do regular familiars bail when you "make the switch"? etc. -not having to sleep, etc., would this ultimately give you more time; down on Crafting times, research, even item creation? i know you still need 8hrs for wizards to "rest" even as undead, but in your downtime so to speak, you might not need to replenish if you're not heavy casting that shopping day in the city and so forth. God, this is fostering too many questions and already this post is too long. sorry for what it's worth insights, intelligent commentary, anayltic critique if you like... |

They are turned/rebuked the opposite way undead are -do you need flavor appropriate familiars: rat, bat, undead? do regular familiars bail when you "make the switch"? etc.Yes, it is usually mentioned in the template's entry |
