| riftdragon04-02-07, 04:53 PM | Giant Brain Characteristics: These creatures are giant humanoid brains. They count as extra planer .they tend to be any alignment except chaotic. They posses a Tendril like body forming out of what would be a spinal cord at the end of this cord is a small slashing weapon. The arms posses’ small tendril like fingers on the end of the tendril like protrusions on could call arms. They have no discerned difference between male and female however they seem to tell. They can project a psionic illusion (can be seen threw with a DC 20 Psi-craft) to mask that they are brains. The illusion is of human 30 years old and wearing traveler’s cloths and of their specific gender Strength: -10 Dex: +2 (subject to change) Int: +4 Con: -2 Wis: +2 Cha: -2 Abilities: Hover: they hove 1-3 ft off the ground at any time even when unconscious Int Drain: they drain int with a ranged touch Atk. This drains 2 point of int if they fail their will save (DC=10+Charater Level + int Mod) Shielding: 1/week: Gain a +10 Deflection Bonus to AC for one round. This ability can be activated in response to an attack. Born Scion: 4 bonus Power Points Extend Scion: Can sacrifice 3 HP to gain 2 Temporary Power Points (they go away after an hour) Carrying Load: Instead of using your Strength score you can use you int score in the exact same way that you would use your strength Score to Detriment you lifting composites Blind Sense: 60ft. Telekinetic weapon Wielding: You are allowed to wield weapons as if you were a human except you may wield them with your mental prowess. Tail Blade: 1d6 S/P Crit: 18-20/x2 Automatically counted as if you have the weapon finesse feat when wielding this weapon. Fluff: This Race is Really A group of pan-dimensional scionic Beings that are pulled into our (or whatever dimension you are using) by great scionic forces. The more scions exist in your world the more of these things are running around. These beings avoid litholds at all costs. However seem to produce a natural ability making their flesh poisons only to them |
| bobothechimp04-02-07, 04:59 PM | Still completely overpowered. |
| Grod_The_Giant04-02-07, 05:02 PM | yeah. hit them with a heavy dex and con penalty too. How is a giant free-floating brain suppost to be as agile and tough as an elf? They should have a diplomacy penalty too. |
| Leatherwood04-02-07, 05:43 PM | If I may, I'd like to make a few suggestions on your race. I'd like to see it in a format closer to what is shown in the Player's Handbook. I find that the format shown in the PHB is easier to read and, from the perspective of design, easier to write. Also, it would be a good idea to take a look at the Psionic's Handbook to see how other psionic races are handled. Now, I think I understand what you are trying to accomplish with this race. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're envisioning something that is a little more than a floating brain with very little else to constitute as it's body. While such a creature might be interesting as a monster, it lacks play-ability as a character race. I suggest adding one arm-like appendage (perhaps dangling from where the brain stem would be) and eyes (which, in mammals, are attached to the brain anyway). These two additions to your creature would eliminate the need for blind sense, and telekinetic weapon weilding. Finally, I think it's important to not be discouraged. Sometimes the folks on these boards can forget what it's like to share ideas for the first time. They maybe a little bit blunt, but they're giving you good advice, and they mean well. |
| riftdragon04-02-07, 08:05 PM | well thats why i gave them the minus 2 to cha I'll work further on it and hopfully it will work How about a -4 to cha |
| riftdragon04-02-07, 08:10 PM | well thats why i gave them the minus 2 to cha I'll work further on it and hopfully it will work How about a -4 to cha Also yes that is what i invision however i added limbs ,well exept for olegs, to this and I forgot to write that It Cant wear medium or heavy armor, though thats not much of a penalty, could you suggest a way to make thisclass a low ecl? |
| obrysii04-02-07, 09:43 PM | Here's the Giant Brains written up as per the standard format. I've editted a few things, which are Italized. Giant Brain *Str -10, Dex +2, Con -2, Wis +2, Int +4, Cha -2 *Outsider (Native) *Speed: 0ft., Fly 30ft (perfect) *Illusionary Form (su): At will, as a standard action, Giant Brains can wrap themselves in a psionic illusion that allows them to look like a 30-year old Human wearing traveler's clothing. A will disbelief, DC 18 + int mod, can see through the illusion. It has a 1 minute/level duration. *Intelligence Drain (su): As a ranged touch attack, a Giant Brain can drain 1d2 points of intelligence if the victim fails a (DC 10+1/2 character level+Int mod) will save. *Psionic Shielding (su): As an immediate action, in response to an attack, a Giant Brain can generate a shield that grants a +10 deflection bonus to AC for one round. This is usable once per week. *Born Scion (ex): Giant Brains gain an extra 4 power points. *Extend Scion (ex): A Giant Brain may chose to sacrifice 3 HP in order to gain 2 temporary power points. These bonus power points disappear after one hour. *Mind means might (ex): Instead of using their Strength score to determine carrying capacity, Giant Brains use their Intelligence scores. *Blindsense 60ft. *Telekinetic Weapon Wielding (su): A Giant Brain can wield weapons telekinetically as if they had humanoid limbs. They gain no additional benefits, and can wield only up to two weapons at a time, just as if they were humanoid. *Weapon Finesse: Giant Brains gain this as a bonus feat, but it applies only to Tail Blades. *LA +? |
| riftdragon04-02-07, 10:03 PM | Thank you very much |
| Krusk04-03-07, 11:33 AM | Id suggest noting a minimum str score. TO avoid confusion. for illusionary form, maybe this should be they are able to look like any humanoid any age, and lower the will save DC to 15 +int mod. i wouldnt have weapon wielding, but i would note that if they are using illusionary form, and a creature fails the will save, then they are subject to damage from the weapon as normal, and allowed another will save. extended scion is really powerful, drop to one hp get healed, drop to one hp, get healed and now youve got a bajillion powerpoints for the upcoming battle. maybe sacrifice 3 hp, which cannot be healed until the hour up. at this time they may be healed normally. |
| obrysii04-03-07, 12:23 PM | Or perhaps have the damage be something like Vile damage or Dessication damage: something that can't be naturally healed or even healed magically very easily. |
| calronmoonflower04-03-07, 02:37 PM | Or perhaps have the damage be something like Vile damage or Dessication damage: something that can't be naturally healed or even healed magically very easily. Make it like ability burn and reduce the ratio from 1:2 to 2:3 or even 2:1. Hit point burn would be like hit point damage, but it can only be healed naturally, magic (or psionics) will not help. |
| bobothechimp04-03-07, 03:54 PM | Ok, that looks a lot better. Now I'll try to give better critique. Extended Scion is still overpowered. Perhaps make it so the damage can only be healled by natural means (resting until healed) and maybe make it so it can only be used again once the damage is healed. That's my idea on it, it's probably not great. The strength penalty doesn't really mean anything to this race, so it should not do much, or anything, to lower level adjustment. A fly speed is almost always enough to warrant a level adjustment, so in this case I say +1. The bonuses and penalties to ability scores even out to around another +1. I know absolutely nothing regarding psionics, so my best guess for the other abilities would be another +1. In my opinion, it is balanced at around LA +3. |
| TheCarrionCrawler04-03-07, 04:46 PM | I would propose this feat to all other races! :D Delta Brain Waves You did the nasty in the pasty! Prerequisites: INT 8 or lower Benefit : You are your own grandfather/grandmother! As a direct result of your past nastification, your brain produces Delta Brain Waves. You are immune to all supernatural and spell-like abilities of Giant Brains. |
| calronmoonflower04-03-07, 07:13 PM | :heehee Nice Futurama referance. |
