07-11-07, 10:55 PM Frankly having favored class Paladin or Monk is simply pointless unless you can multi class freely, it's mostly for flavor reasons.

I would be a gith monk13, then multiclass into rogue or fighter with no intention of ever going back to monk.

It is not so much useless, but rather not having the use you wanted it to have.:)

07-12-07, 03:10 AM TMK, it also doesn't stop someone from taking levels in another class, then taking monk levels, as long as they don't stop. Three levels of wizard, then taking nonstop monk, for instance.

Plus, there are feats, like the monastic training and so forth, in the complete books, and in the Eberron CS, that let you multiclass with one other select class, depending on the feat. The complete-whatever ones even grant stacking benefits between the two, IIRC.

No, it just works for not getting an XP penalty if you are a fighter 2 / monk 6 or the like. You still - by the standard setting, ECS, FRCS, and CAdv have ways to get around this - can not return to being a monk after you take levels in another class, but at least you don't worry about being slapped with a 20% penalty to your XP. Favored class is to help dipping, more than anything else afaik.

Besides, when you have the FoZuoken a.k.a. psionic fist, I would not stay in the monk class too long anyway. The FoZ class ability progression is almost as blunt as that of a sorcerer, but it still offers more than a monk gets imo. BTW, Customer Support or the Sage ruled that any PP reserve works, so a githzerai does not need Wild Talent. Thankfully, because it made no sense whatsoever :rolleyes:
