| FenrysStar07-28-07, 04:51 PM | Just had a weird idea for transporting the lupin from Mystara to Oerth. They are a nomadic race that meanders the Gnarley and surrounding lands, keeping away from human civiliations as much as possible, i.e. they would rather not step foot in Greyhawk itself, but maintain friendly relations with the elves of Celene and the Rangers of the Gnarley, in fact many of them are Ranger Knights if not Ranger Lords within their own tribes. Mechanics: As per Dragon Compendium save their bonus against werewolves are either dropped entirely, exchanged for a free feat (or the full abilities of Scent at the DM's discretion) or switched to another race. Partial consideration: Lupin and Gnolls have a similar relationship that elves and drow share, they are antagonistic to each other but recognize a kind of kinship between them. |

| FenrysStar07-30-07, 02:54 AM | I've had a couple of ideas. One was the Zhentarim or Red Wizards gathered up a bunch of rangers, druids and ranger/druids of Mielikki or other nature deities that happened to have wolf companions and merged the two in an attempt to create a slave race that backfired. Werewolves who turned to Mielikki for worship and allowed this transformation to prove that they were sincere in wanting to be good wolf folk. A surge of wild magic awakens and transforms a bunch of wolves and makes them humanoid. Or the same scenario that was perpetuated by a mad servant of Mielikki or Malar. As to where, the Dalelands, the High Forest, the savage north all have the potential. |
| Romulus LoneWolf07-30-07, 03:08 PM | The Mielikki scenario would explain their bonus on hunting werewolves, as a way of proving their service to her. |
| FenrysStar07-31-07, 02:29 AM | Hmm, actually you have a point there. |
| Neutronium_Dragon08-01-07, 11:54 AM | Mielikki doesn't necessarily have a huge anti-werewolf streak to her, though she's probably not keen on Malarite ones. But in the FR, there're a fair number of non-evil werewolves (primarily Selunite), which puts a bit of a monkey wrench into things - those ones wouldn't be acceptable targets in Mielikki's ethos. But that probably indicates more of a necessity for tweaking the FR lupin to have them specifically after evil/Malarite-or-equivalent werewolves (or lycanthropes generally), in which case they might also have a Selunite affiliation. |
