It would stand to reason that a gnome would be particularly good at using one. However, the only real benefit it provides is the trip attack. However, gnomes have an inherent disadvantage in attempting a trip attack because of their low strength (-2 racial adjustment) and their small size (-4 to the trip attack). So what is the benefit to a gnome using a GHH as opposed to just using a mace and a light pick as a two weapon fighting. It's not like a gnome can use the GHH without a penalty unless he has the two-weapon feat. Even with the two weapon fighting style feat and a light weapon in the off hand, the gnome still has a -2 penalty for each attack. Comments and thoughts are greatly appreciated. |

Gnomes don't get any bonus or penalty whilst using one that they wouldn't get with other weapons. It is just that gnomes train their soldiers in the use of them as they do swords, whereas other races don't train their martial professions in the use of them. |

The advantages over two weapons are clear and is free to boot. |
