Going out the window on templates [Archive] - Wizards Community

After a few nice and rewarding, some even longwinded campaigns, I got the idea of creating a Planetouched villain to oppose the PCs in one of the next campaigns. However, I am quite low on templates or info of Planetouched beings.

I have searched far and wide for info on Planetouched such as Genasi (including Para- and Quasi-Genasi), beings touched by the Positive and Negative Energy planes, and beings touched by the Outer Planes (both Upper and Lower, both Lawful and Chaotic). However, I discovered some big problems.

I did find sites (I was searching the internet as I own just the basic three books and the Draconomicon) that offered loads of information, but some of it was conflicting, or one site talked about things that others did not even mention in the slightest.

What I am looking for is templates of a HUMAN (not elf, gnome, orc, dwarf or any other race that could be touched by a plane) that is touched by any of the Elemental Planes, Quasi-Elemental Planes, Para-Elemental Planes, either Positive of Negative Energy Planes, any of the Outer Planes (including The Outlands, if so possible), the Ethereal Plane, the Astral Plane, or the Plane of Shadow.

I have seen that even then there can be differences (for instance, I've found info on Chaond and Cansin, both whom can descend from Chaotic-aligned Outer Planes). About those, I would prefer the most general ones (such as Aasimar (touched by Good plane) or Tiefling (touched by Evil plane)), or most specific (such as one touched by The Nine Hells of Baator), not one that that is somewhere in-between (such as one touched by either The Nine Hells of Baator or The Infernal Battlefields of Acheron).

Reason for this is because I intend to make the aforementioned Planetouched villain character a human who has been touched by pretty much all of the planes in the Great Wheel. I know that that may be going out the window with a character's ancestry and genetic make-up (as well as throwing conflicting aligments together due to those), but I think all that could make for an interesting character, and it's also perfectly legal in my world.

Well, look at the first link in my sig. That should help greatly.

One template that's not in there is the Dark template from Tome of Magic. That's a good one for Plane of Shadow.

Pretty much everything you need is in there, though.

Ah, yes, that PDF file. I have gone through it several times before, and there sure are interesting things in it, but I haven't found any Planetouched templates in it, besides the Alu-Fiend, Half-Celestial and Half-Fiend, perhaps.

What I am looking for is not halfbreeds, but distant ancestry.

If you search the forums you will find some attempts to create planetouched templates. WotC Planetouched beings were not designed as templates and I doubt you'll find what you are looking for in that way.

Your best bet would be to look at planetouched and similar creatures and create your own template. Maybe a scaling template that grants powers based on Hit Dice or you could have the villain attempting to get the "template" by traveling to planes or planar nodes to acquire the power of each plane.

Alright, I'll certainly take a look around for those.

However, although I may refer to these things as "templates", I basically just want the racial information on each of those "races". The reason I call them templates is simply because, aside from a distant outsider ancestor, they are pretty much human, and me and my group have as such been referring to Planetouched creatures as if they are humans with an added template.

Hence my asking for the canon information on any and all of the human-based Planetouched "races".
